Unless I knew the person and was friends with them I wouldn't ask to shoot their gun.. But if a little kid getting into paintball wanted to shoot my gun, of course I would.

Why wouldn't you let a little kid shoot you'r gun, unless you knew the kid had a habit of being clumsy and breaking guns, or if the kid was going to run away with it.

Just depends on how little you mean when you say "Little Kid." 11 and up, I'd let them shoot it, under that, no way.

Speaking of little kids, have you guys ever played with one who's been playing with his dad or something? That's a tricky situation. On the one hand, you've got this kid who is like 11 or 12 running around, and you don't want to light him up. On the other hand, he's got a paintball gun and I'm sure he knows how to use it... I say peg him =P

i let most lil kids shoot my gun cuz they i warn them about the short trigger and i hand it to them (barrel down the chrono of course) and it goes of right in their hands. its pretty funny to see their eyes jump up that high!:)

A little kid wouldnt shut up and said only once and he said ok I SWEAR... he wasted about 15 rounds so my friend shot at him and made him stop. It was a cheap gun but still the little kid was a retard shooting trees and laughing. Get em on the field and you will see my rage against em. I also hard a 10 year old say the balls dont hurt... Before in rec ball i just got friggen nailed like 5 times and it hurt... They can play and all but if they cry its not my fault and there never touching anyof my guns.

about the shooting little kids, i'll do it but i ussually feel bad, but i know if i don't shoot him he'll shoo me, and pluss, if they're playing the game they should be prepared to get shot. I know i have to shoot 'em 'cuz if they shoot me i'll get pissed 'cuz i cut 'em some slack, so i'd just make sure i hit him, and then i don't feel bad.

Lil kids are cool..they come on the field all enthuiastic. Then they get whomped in the ribs at point blank, WHOOSH, there goes another unsatisfied customer. I usually lent my guns to newbies to shoot a few, it makes them more interested in paintball. WHAM, now there's a satisfied customer!
12-15 year old newbies who think they're all cool and tough suck. I hate the ones who are over confident their first time. I make it my mission to shoot them from as close as I can. :)

anyone else think that is sadistic???

i think 10 is the minimum age allowed by any paintball field because of the liability insurance.
We don't let them play with regular older players until the age of 12. 10 year olds generally have to play with the rental equipment and we turn it down to about 200 fps. We want them to become customers later on down the road. I made the mistake of letting 8, 10 year old yappers play against 2 guys with shockers. Well friggin low and behold, one of them gets lit up and starts crying, and wont do anything but shoot at the target range the rest of the day. I also have some mad mom screaming at me about how her baby got hurt... whaa whaa.. "hey lady, read the liabiltiy waiver you just signed. Were you paying attention during the daily rules reading??? where we explain that it DOES hurt and to be careful?
end of rant.

I let anyone shoot my gun at the chrono as long as they supply the paint. Like i said... that 10 year old who gets to shoot a cocker or angel, will be buying one soon enough, and hopefully its from our store.

well, i dont like to let kids shoot mine,,the first thing they do is try to shoot fast,,usually fanning the trigger on there shoulder, which is stupid in my opinion. So therefore they chop many balls and double feed. so i dont do it any more unless they have a cocker and know how it shoots....

What is so tricky about it. If he is playing he must understand that he will get shot. But if you real mean LIGHT HIM UP like you wrote, than yes I have a problem with you. Lighting anyone up is not what this sport is about.

P.S. I'm one of those dads that enjoys paintballing with my 12 year old son.

Well... Here's my answer...

I wouldn't let anyone under 11 shoot. Or even play. If they can play, I'll tell them. It WILL hurt. You WILL get hit. Do you accept these terms? You shure you still want to play. Explain how the marker works. blah blah blah... Them, try not to light em up the first time. Unless it's some punk kid who thinks he's Rambo, then put the Angel on F/A and light em up! ;)

And if his/her fat momma on wellfare comes and says "OMG! Look at this bruise on my son/daughter's arm!" I'll say, "I told them it's gonna hurt"

Also, I'm not gonna let them shoot a case of paint, and not use a tricked out Angel. I'd say hold on, go home, and get a lower grade gun. (Talon, etc) And let them shoot. And get them a mask and junk. And let him/her practice a while (getting use to the marker) Then play a game.

What i meant from my above post is this:
WE give about a 5-10 minute speech about how paintball can be dangerous, and it may leave bruises. We explain the rate and speed of the paintballs. If little kids are playing with older kids, like a family is playing, usually one of the refs walks with the kid and keeps him safer.
WE are total sticklers to the rules when the 10 year olds are on the field. We also sometimes help the newbies, no matter how old they are.
WE try and keep ANYONE from geting overshot, but on that particular day we had a 14 year old with a shocker and he just went off and lit this 10 year old up. These 10 year olds had been taunting these guys all day and both sides wanted to play a woods game. thats why i said i made a mistake by letting them play.

you people think that most 10-12 year olds cant suck up the pain. that is.....
true.
whether the kid wants to play paintball will decide on its own. When the kid gets hit and bruised, if he quits, he's not ment for paintball. If he doesnt, he is. That said, I agree with martlet 1. I know a ref at Operation Paintball (my local field thats 60 miles away) that is a tourney player but he likes to help newbies and tourney players alike. Now I also no some regular renters at Fort Louis, and I went with 4 other 12-year-old friends. They were all sayin that they were gonna light us up till we cried and bring it on and bs like that. They were around... 30.

All the lil kid's I play with usually have Angel's and Cocker's their mom's bought em. I want to shoot their guns. Us around 30 guys are sadistic m.f.er's, thats why we scare little kids. Just don't take any candy from us or get in our vans and stay in school and off drugs.

yeah.. that pisses me off, some 12 year old with $2000 worth of gear. Then they spend the whole day shooting at the target range and working on thier gun.

Right, and you're like,"Dude, you gonna stop fiddling with that long enough to play a game here? Then they can't stop shooting all the trees from the chrono to the starting point on the field.

I would let a kid shoot my gun. Take a couple of shots. I would let anyone try it out. But, I would not let the "borrow" my gun unless I really trusted them to take care of it.

well if i had a gun :) i'd probably let him use it, u know how it feels to be a newbie with your crappy rental and on walks the guy with his tricked out angel and you just stare at them... if that guy lets u fire a couple of shots, you're more likely to let a newbie use your gun, and it brings more people into the sport for just 1min of your time.

but if he scratches my paint... ooh he gonna have welts ;)

p.s i will have gun soon, prepare to shoot a more expensive target

I didn't mean literally "light him up". That's simply an expression that means "shoot him", fyi. I mean, who the hell would try to hurt a little kid?

I will let kids shoot it at the target range but as for palying with my shocker....my 14 year old brother ahs never played a game with it...he's shot it at the range but thats under supervision, I wouldn't trust most of them and they probably won't have the same amount of rrespect to your gun as a more advanced player would.

I let shem shoot my marker. It's a good way to get some fresh new meat targets....uh people interested in the sport. ;)
