Hey Mr. Ref, Paintcheck!

Tell me no one has done this. You see paint comeing from a clump of bushes or bunkers, but you can't tell where the shooter is, so you fire a few rounds in that direction and then yell to the Ref to "check that player for paint." Ref walks over to the guy, now you know exactly where he's hiding, and when the Ref walks away, you light em up or try to flank him (or if you're more devious, you advance while the Ref is checking him).

Also in woods play, You ever look for a ref who's looking down, obvious he's talking to someone, there's a player by that Ref. and then start shooting (hoping you don't hit the ref).

I definelty did that. The ref was looking down at a bush and I knew he was talking to his friend. This ref had been telling his buddy where the opposition was. I wasted them both.

I knew the owner of the field so I wasn't worried about getting tossed. When the ref was getting ready to freak out on me all I said was "plausible deniability". He couldn't prove a thing, and i couldn't prove he was helping his buddy, so I took justice into my own hands >:)

My friend hit the field Saturday, someone called a check on him, so the ref comes in the bunker where he's at and is checking him out, unbeknownest, a guy from the other team advanced to the bunker and waited for the ref to leave, then jumped in and shot him. that sucks :(

That kinda thing also works in tournaments. Look for the people on the side lines taking pictures or video taping...usually where they are looking is a bad guy :)

Dude the ref's that you guys trick are dumarse's an expirenced ref will not talk to a player or if the ref dosn't think that a player was hit he will not ch check him and a ref can usualy check from a distance. And by the way all you people who love seeing the ref sqwirm. Dude at my field if you shoot a ref a purpose you will be ban from the field forever. You will not get your entry fee back and my boss (the owner) will fax a copy of your release the NPPL and to about 30 Field owners in the Surrounding States and to the Pam Am and Zap Circuits. So think twice before shooting a ref.

Fitz, no need to get worked up, you maybe the Best Ref in the Universe, but you can't be on all parts of the field at all times, and sometimes our games are in thick woods, so if you can see through the trees and underbrush, maybe you should be a job as a SuperHero. :eek:

fitz, way to ruin the humorous atmosphere! j/k, but u do need to lighten up. The guy who shot the ref said he knew the owner, so i doubt he was gonna get banned. And whats so bad about using the "paint check" tactic if the ref will fall for it. If he does, great. If he doesn't, oh well.

Ya... I have painted a ref on purpose before... he was a lazy arse that called a teammate out on a bounce then almost tossed him off the field for arguing the point! I just waited till he was near the other team.... I hit him in the back and blamed it on paint in the barrel... I am not proud nor do I condone this action.. but some refs shouldnt be out there! Also we play what is called Liars poker paint check now at our field. Its if someone calls paintcheck one person is walking off the field! if the guy is hit he's gone if not the one who called the paint check is gone! too many people were using paintchecks to find people and slow down the games! I consider it a way if cheating, almost up there with wipeing!
As a ref I loved talking to myself on the field when people were thinking that I was talking to other players! It is always fun to watch a squad attack an innocent bush!LOL

Paintcheck is not a tactic you want to overuse, then the Refs start to get wise to what you're doing. But it can be handy in some situations, like if you need to reload and you're pinned down, or if you just need time to think and catch your breath. I've used it mayb twice in the last two or three months.

Wipeing comes in handy too! Part of the game is haveing to reload and keeping your cool! Tell ya what if I have worked you pinned down in a corner, you dont know where I am at, and you are outa shots, it would kinda svck for you to have the ablility to stop the game, reload, find out where I am and rest a bit.... we might as well have a "timeout" rule added! So, will calling a paintcheck Stop the game, no, it may pause a portion of the play, but it does not stop the entire game.

Is calling a paintcheck Unethical ... Damn, do we really need lawyers entering the Fray. Is it any worse than a Dead Man Walk ... In my mind no, but you know there are those who're gonna get PO'd if you pull one off.

If you stop action by calling a paint check for the reason of finding out where someone is, to reload or to catch your breath that is very poor sportsmanship! By the name alone this should be self evident...Paint check... not stop and lemme know were you are... not hold on guy I gotta reload, (I have been asked that on the field and I let him reload)
From what I have seen you write Muck you are a good player and dont need to use bushleauge tactics like that!

To tell you the truth, I only use paintchecks when i feel there may have been even the slightest chance I got the guy. I HATE it when someone calls paitcheck on me when i have thm bunkered, only to see them run 30 feet towards my side while the ref if checking me. Its cheap to advance during a check, and it detracts from the sport.
Now, everytinme i get checked, I book it out of that position as fast as possible in hopes to get better ground.If you kook at refs as a manipulitable part of the game, then I guess using checks as an advantage is tolerable, but personally, i think its a borderline issue.

that liars poker paintcheck deal sounds like a good idea if people are starting to abuse it. it would suck if you were trying to be stealth then someone pulls that paintcheck business on you.

Good luck I went pballing thursday I had no school.
I did the best on speed ball I kicked A** my team did nuting I had to do all the work they were afraid to move up on they sooo I ran and slid more then 5 feet and it was raining I allmost got the hole team.
I was telling my team to distract them so I can move up near them I am not affraid to get shot.
I am still talking about speedball...So I moved up more because there was 2 guys left got 1 in the hopper(luck shot) and the outher I ran to the bord were he was and shot and missed...So were were inches from eachouther I was behind the fence from him of u can call it a bunker soo he blind shot at me and missed then I ran out and shot him U spose to go bang bang but I ran up and said that and then shot him..oops

The field I play at if you shoot a reff you and a some one on your team has to walk on the field with no gun and hold hands and fun around and if you get shot you are still in.
So amagain about 30 guys shooting at you and you only have a mask? ;eek;
