I've had two cockers.. one only required being oiled after every day of play, the other...SUCKED. It was totally unconsistent, it "became" untimed and it just SUCKED. If your cocker works, don't mess with it, I played around with my second one a bit, but it didn't contribute to the overall decision that the gun SUCKED!

i thought only high end cockers like sto's or free flows had to be timed? Even the reg 2k and 2k1 do too?

*cough*newbie*cough* Any cocker has to be timed, but trust me it is quite simple to time a cocker.

It may seem a bit complicated at first. But, once you get to understand how a Cocker works, you wont have many problems with it.
If youre planning to keep it stock, you shouldnt have problems.

This autococker animation thoroughly shows what a cocker does when it shoots. http://www.worr.com/technical/animated-autococker.gif
