Hey, I'll be getting my first paintball gun in a few days (Spyder Com2k) and I have a question about the grip. I don't really like the idea of not having a front grip for my left hand on the gun, but I probably won't get a bottomline for a little while at least. Can I just screw the tank directly into an expansion chamber ? Would this make the gun too big ? (I'm using a 12 oz. tank) Is there some other kind of grip I could put on it ? Hope I don't sound too dumb with my newbie questions ;) Thanks.

nope you don't sound dumb i ask alot of those questions too:)well i got a spyder one with a 12oz its not that big so i would just use the co2 as the foregrip. i want to get a expansion chamber too but, you got to get different adapters for it so i don't really use a for grip. but try and use the co2 for the grip. well hope i didn't bore you

hey wassup. To teh answer to your questions:
1. Yes you can use the Co2 as your forgrip. The SPyder Comp 2k is a vertical bottle gun, until you add taht bottom line.
2. no you cant directly attach an expansion chamber to your bottle, you need to attach the bottom line to the expansion chamber, then you attach the bottle to your bottom line.
3. I have a regulater instead of an expansion chamber, but they're essentially the same size. no it doesn't make my gun too big because i am useing a drop forward and i love it.

TL, shouldn't you explain what a drop forward is?

a drop forward is a peice of metal, often in a slanted z shape, that goes on your bottom line and the CA adapter(the place where you screw in your tank) goes on the bottom line. The result is the CA adapter is moved up and brought down a couple inches to make the gun have a better balance. That good? :D

actually...you can get an expansion chamber with an ASA built into it so you can screw the bottle directly into the expansion chamber. check out pro team products, they have one on the f/x m98, I pretty sure you can order the expansion chamber from them directly.

What does dry fireing do to your gun?

hmm...i think it does nothing bad really..it's just shooting without any paintballs...it is annoying though...and it scares the HELL out of your younger sisters...LOL  i don't do that anymore though...after the time i shot myself in the hand trying to clean the porting...i didn't know there was a ball stuck in the barrel...:(

I'll go with what everyone else says, but also add that your first upgrade should be a barrel. For your fore grip, I'd suggest a regulator of some sort. Palmer's stabilizer for co2, and the Air America Vigilante are the best you can get... They look good, feel good, and perform awesome. You'll thank yourself in the end, and you can use them if you upgrade to other markers.

Well my friend has one of those little cartdidge adapters, so when I used his gun I tried using it as a grip and I didn't like it. My other friend has a shutter, and shutter has its own grip, didn't like that either... So the way I hold it is, put my hand underneath the expansion chamber...works fine :) even though everyone says I have an odd way of holding a gun...

The vigilante is an awesome reg for nitro, it's given me super consistency at very high rates of fire. But I dont think it works so hot with CO2. From what I understand it's actually very bad with CO2. So you'd probably want to look into the palmer reg if you're using CO2

if you use Co2 on the Vigilante, You are guaranteed a frozen O ring and AA will not cover the damages(warranty) if you use Co2 with the vigilante. Go with teh Palmers.

Can you put a dropfoward on a Spyder SE?

TLplus84

nope. Unless you get a new grip frame or you get one of those adapters that will let you convert your bottomline to the standard bottomline because Kingman has the staggered bottom line. Although, you can get the Lapco bottomline for the Spyder, and that already has a CA adapter attached to it.

You can get drop forewards build for the stagered bottom line, like the spyder has. I forget which companys make them though.

Lapco makes them. ALso, if you're into stocks, Lapco makes one witha staggered hole pattern

Uh this kinda does not belong on this thread...
What if I wanted to upgrade my gun to nitro? Do I need to change the whole gas system in it...or do I just use a nitro tank??

TLplus84
01-17-2001, 05:09 PM
whole gas system? uhh...you just get a N2 bottle...fill it with compressed air..and if its a screw in..just screw it in your asa...if it's a cradeled, attach the cradle to teh bottomline, then attach the hose to whatever is on your vertical ASA.

Yea, see I thought you need to change the whole thing...I'll stick to co2 for now :)

hmm, how much does it cost to convert to commpressed air. I'll never have to pay to refill my gun again because my friends all have scuba tanks. But im wondering if it's worth it to set up for a Spyder SE.

Compressed air tanks range from 100 dollars(47 ci 300 psi) to 500 dollars(armagheddon 68 ci 4500 psi) for a SE, i would go for a 160 dollar system liket he Pure Energy or the Crossfire. for 160 dollars, you can get a 68ci 3000psi tank. For an Se, that's perfect. go to BBTpaintball.com. THey have good prices.

Man, a pure energy is all you'll ever need. The flow rate is good enough to keep up with any marker and that's what really matters. It just doesnt have all the wonderful bells and whistles of more expensive tanks like adjustable output, 9 guages, on/off valve etc. Sure all those things are nice (hell i wish I had em) but a Pure Energy will keep you running fine. However, a note on consistency, is that I run mine through an inline before going into my marker, so that may be why my pressure in my gun is so wonderfully consistent. But, the recharge rate is still awesome, and i never get shoot down, so it's a good tank. Especially for the money

you can get an adapter that will enable standard ASA fittings to hook to spyder ones... i have seen some nitro tanks for as little as 70... they are 48's and they arent too great but hey, its still nitro... personally i wouldsave up and go with a crossfire or something nicer but if you dont wanna spend much there is always that option

TLplus84

yeah i have one of those..it's made by Benchmark and it screws on to the staggered holes and on the adapter are standard holes....i'm not sure if that's what you're talking about..but i have one of those..
