If you're driving, gas comes first. Then paintball. Then comes food.

no no i'm not saying that...i sed you weren't and that i understood how you worked for you gear..i'm just saying that kids that get all the best gear from their daddys when they're just starting out, then blame the gear not them...that just ticks me off...

Hell, it's almost $100 bucks a pop every time i go to the field ... I was lucky I managed to squeeze out an extra hundred last week for a new mask and a Sandana.

I'm taking my son to the field this week, his first time ... he's really getting interested in it. Today on the way home from school he says, "Ya know, If I get good I wanna get my own marker. I saw one online the other day, i think it's called an Angel, I think I'd like that one."

First I laughed ... Then in Stern Dad Voice #46 I said, "If anyone gets a new marker, it's gonna be me ... and if you get a marker, it'll be my old one ... after I strip off the upgrades."

TLplus84
01-17-2001, 06:37 PM
haha i'd leave the upgrades on...give you son at least SOMETHING good...heheh i hate those parents who give their children CRAPPY 88 volvos that barely passed emmisnions...then the next day they go out and buy a new benz...that god my parents arent' like that...my mom has a 300M..my dad has a TL...and i have an INtegra..see? everyone is happy.. :D

Sorry, I started with stock parts, so is he ... my first ride was a 1971 International Scout ... paid less than $1000 for it, insurance was cheap and it was so big and heavy that if I got in a wreak, I knew I'd walk away from it ... Of course, that was before all this fancy AirBag, AntiLock Break stuff y'all got now.

Yeah, to afford my marker I had to work an awful lot of 16 hour days pumping gas with no break at 7 bucks an hour to get my gun. If anyone ever called me spoiled in person for having an expensive gun i think i'd kill them. And no jury in the world would convict me either

that crap works..thank god i had the airbags when igotinto my accident...if not..seriously..i wouldve died...that crap really protects you....i had a bloody lip from it..but i'd rather have that than a coffin...

You and I are in the same boat, Muck! I keep forgetting that a lot of the people on here are pretty young.
I'm a father of 4 boys (15, 18, 18 and 20), divorced, own my home, make a pretty decent living and love to buy toys. I just spent a week in Vail Colorado and on the way back picked up a portable DVD player to watch on the flight home. Maybe I have too much spare money!!!
On another note my twins have purchased every piece of paintball gear with their own money. They pay their own way into tournaments, work part time jobs, and pretty much take care of any paintball bills on their own. We get paint and air through our sponsors and since we work at the local field we don't have to pay to play. I do cover hotel costs when we go out of town for non-tournament games like Michigan Monster Game and the Ohio Bash. I do pay for dinner for the team after tournaments. Other than that all the members of my team pay their own way.

More than anything, Action, it teaches them responsibility, mine are 2, 4, 9 and 11. Even the 4-year-old is itching to hit the field, he doesn't understand he's just a bit too young. It's the kids whose parents buy they what they want when they want who usually cause the problems for the rest of us.

about the kid getting the TL+, we got a kid exactly like that i out town, except he already had a stingray, and i dont think he has ever gone paintballing, his whole reason for getting it was that he had to top everyone else
