What is a regulator and where does it go on a gun?

If you were to type "paintball regulator" into any search engine's field, you'd have your answer in about 30 seconds. I mean, I like helping out people by answering questions when I can, but sometimes a minute of research will do the trick. This is one of those times.

I'm not exactly sure about this so... don't get pissed if I'm wrong. But isn't it that little thing that attaches between the CO2 tank and the gun, (where the Co2 and gun would normally connect). Anyways it has a gadge to tell you aproximately what the pressure of your CO2 is so you can estimate how many shots-worth of Co2 you have. There also is a knob to turn the Co2 on or off which is pretty useful.
If people would just share the knowledge they have, than the world would become one step closer to enlightenment.

If you read my post closely, you'll see that I never "bashed" him. I'll share what I know with him now, but I want to say that you often become wiser or "closer to enlightenment", as you put it, by doing your own research and coming up with answers by yourself. Anyways, on to regulators. This is what I know (or think I know), so don't get mad if any of it is wrong.
A regulator's purpose is to control the gas output from the tank. There are a few different types of regulators, including female and male. Female regs attach to your bottom line and the tank is inserted into it, if I'm not mistaken. Male reg, far more common, screw directly into your ASA (air source adapter). After screwing the inline adapter into your ASA, you connect an elbow (a 90 degree fitting) into the regulator. You then connect macro line, micro line, or steel braided hose to the tank, generally through a bottom line or something of the sort (I'm not sure exactly how drop forwards work and what the difference is between a DF and a bottom line). After a barrel upgrade, I consider a regulator upgrade to be the next best upgrade. It helps keep your shots in a good fps range (I get +- 5 out of my stock cocker reg, which isn't bad), which keeps your velocity and accuracy consistent. Hope that helps.

Basically, a regulator regulates the pressure of the co2 or nitro/compressed air. Nitro tanks for paintball guns always have a reg. on them (right?). Some are adjustable and some aren't. Some people have a scond reg. on their gun to regulate the pressure going into the gun. Regulators may or may not have a gauge, but I think most do.
And what he said about doing your own research is right. You usually learn a lot more.
