Hey, any of you players on a budget had to make your own paintball gear? i've seen some stories like one guy who made his own rev. some other dude said he was going to figure out how to make a warpfeed. i've never tried to make a warpfeed but i have designed a couple little doo-dads my self. i made my own padded gloves out of a shoe pox, some old gloves, duck tape, super glue, and some pencil erasers. i made a battleswab after i broke one of mine in half, i tried to make a squeegee holder to sew to my pack in home-ec class but that didn't work. one day i'm goging to make my own fan for my goggles out of one of those little hand held fans.
post some pics or tell abuot some gear that you have made

my friend and i took a revvy, ang a milk jug and made a 400+ round hopper... lol... first we took the revvy and cut most of the shell, next we took the jug and laid it flat so the handle was up. then we took a welder and welded on... wasn't easy, disintegrated 2... it seemed like a good idea, but it sucked.

I can make anything with duck tape... I made a squigee leg holster, gloves, a neck protector, a vest and a hat all for paintball back when I was a n00b... then my mom threw it all away thinking it was an old haloween costume.... I have a friend that made duck tape boots!

I build all my own bunkers at the field I play at :D .

otherwise, it is kinda not making my own gear, but I do my own home mods to my marker, like polishing internals, and drilling out my stock VA, since I am poor.

It's pretty easy, all you realy have to do is change the three way to a solenoid.

On time I made my own harness It worked great, I cut the front pouch off of an old back pack, Then cut two slits in the back of it, I ran a harness belt through it and wala, you then have a harness. I still use it some times.

I can't stop making bolts. It started with aluminum, then aluminum with delrin heads, then solid delrin, then delrin with teflon heads, and now I'm looking into more exotic materials, like teflon impregnated delrin, and graphite impregnated teflon.

I finally wised up and made the perfect boltback, so now I just make heads for it. Talk about a timesaver. :)

I dont even wanna know how you impregnate teflon with white "delrin"..... sicko

You impregnate the delrin with teflon. First you tell the delrin how pretty it is, and how much you'd like to get to know it better, and then you throw it in a press at 800 degrees and about 10,000psi, and... love, baby, yeah.

I don't impregnate it, the psychos that manufacture high tensile acetyls and thermoplastics do that. I'm just glad I'm still a cheapo-- Delrin costs me about $2.00 a foot, and teflon about $7.00. There are some crazy exotics, like Torlon, $75 a foot, and PEEK (polyetheretherketone) at about $38 a foot.

Which is still funny, cause I can make about 5 bolt heads per foot, so even at the most expensive, I'm only looking at $15 each. Still cheaper than retail. :D

for what markers do you make bolt heads?

Dr. Isotope

Anything. I've made for Spyders, Cockers, anything Palmers, even a Shocker or two. Pretty much the only thing I can't do are Mags and Sovereigns (pneumatic bolt and all).

could yah make me a shocker bolt? :D and have you ever thought about doing this on a larger scale? im sure there would be more people who would want bolts in the so cal area.

i myself would be most interested with a quiet silent bolt for my spyder tl plus.

But I've found that problems lie in the initial production tolerances of the guns themselves-- they simply aren't "consistent" enough for me to mass produce bolts... a bolt that would work perfectly in Spyder A would stink in Spyder B, because one gun is bigger (or smaller).

By making backbody + head designs, I can make bolt heads that will fit different barrel bore sizes, but I would have to know the exact-- and I mean exact bore size for whatever gun. My current head is .682; a head at .680 will lose approx 15fps; one at .676 will lose 30fps compared to the .682 head. Take note that that is in my gun-- and every gun is (pardon the cliche) like a snowflake.

So the real hard becomes getting folks to part with their guns for a week or so, so I can make a bolt and head custom to that gun. Definately worth it if you want:

No o-rings.
No need for oiling.
Easier, faster cycling.
Less pinching.

Wow. That sounded just like a salesman. :goody:

It was a 98 cocker with no parts. I used a Mac valve for the 3 way and a pull solenoid for the sear.

I put a fore-grip on a cheap stingray II with some epoxy. It held up really well. The gun is basically worthless but the handle does help. I went to a hardware store and found a piece of plastic in the plumbing section that looked like it would make a decent fore-grip. It was a black tube of hard plastic that fit perfectly over the ball detent. After I epoxied it on and let it dry, I was able to take it off again. The epoxy molded to the ball detent and groves around the gun and now I can slap the fore-grip on or take it off without any tools, just tug it off or push it on. I painted the epoxy after it dried to make it look a little better. I really don't like the stingray, I hardly ever use it, but when I have to it is a little more functional.
