I just ordered myself a Phantom w/ a 14" barrel, bl, and 45 grip. But, from reading up a bit while waiting for my 'gun, I've been wondering if it was the best one to buy. The other manufacturer that caught my eye was Palmer. I know they make really nice quality paintball markers, but I don't know how they compare to the phantom. which one is better?

They r both extremely well built reliable markers, but compared to the phantom.. palmers r high priced toys. Phantoms in comparison have a realitively cheap price with nearly unmatched reliability and decent upgrade path. All upgrades bought for a palmer have to come from palmers persuit shop, and usually cost 5 times what they did to make. Just given my 2 cents

Both guns are really good and should last you a long time. Typhoon is tricked out while the phantom is basic, but with so many mods and custom parts it becomes nicer than the typhoon in my opinion. One really nice mod by Doc Nickels is the pneumatic assist which makes the gun into a fast firing semi ala autococker.

yeah, I've been looking around at all the mods, but I haven't been able to get onto Doc's site... I think it's been down the past week or so. I saw some pictures though, and it blew my mind....A fully Pneumatic Phantom! Crazy! I heard something like the pump pull is only an 1/8 of an inch! is there any truth to that? and what does the pneumatics do, exactly, besides give it a faster firing rate?

The pnuematics also help to soften the pump stroke... by this i mean that it doesn't have the jolt of a spring loaded pump arm, it just sorta glides. Infact i believe that the spring is totally removed if u add the pnuematics kit.

I still don't know what to think though... which one should I go with, a phantom, or a palmer? So, the Palmer is a little more reliable in the sense that it won't break down as much... I don't really care too much about that. Which one has the most accuracy; the longest range? That's what I need to know.

Palmer probably has the better accuracy, with the custom barrel and all, but if u arn't happy with it ur outa luck cause if i remember right palmers have a non detatchable barrel. Phantoms should have the range advantage though, and are alot more consistant from my experiance

The company that makes the phantom.
Skull: they still have the mainspring in the phantom with the PA kit. All that happens is you switch a cocker 3 way by pumping it about 3 mm and the gun cocks.

Pump with assist is 3mm. Triggernomics makes a single and double trigger design (the best I've seen) for most pumps and semis.
