this might help, clean all the excess lube off your hammer, and give your hammer rod plenty of lube. if that doesnt work, i dunno.

first shot drop is a problem in almost all stock smart parts impys and impys without a vff or tapeworm. every impy i have ever seen at my field stock has had that problem and bolt stick. 75% of those people got tapeworms or if they had an old model impy a vff and no more first shot drop or bolt stick for the most part. just make sure u fire one shot before the game starts so u dont have the second shot run into the first shot in the barrel like u said.

yes a solenoid optimizer will help with first shot drop, but i believe that about 80% of the time, the first shot drop occurs due to a dry hammer rod.

I had the same problem, except worse. My first shot wouldn't clear the barrel, getting stuck somewhere in the middle. So my second shot would collide with the stuck ball and make a mess. I had to get into this routine of firing the first shot, using a squegee to poke the paintball out of the barrel and then shooting the second shot. It was awful.

Then, I sent my marker back to Smartparts and had them take a look at it. It turns out, I had a bad hammer cylinder. I also had them install a tapeworm. When I got the gun back, I didn't have that problem anymore.

So, my advice is to install a tapeworm and see if that stops the problem. Just make sure to follow all of the instructions. Also, have some red loctite ready.

ok;

First thing, read the FAQ at the top of this forum

Second thing, the first shot problem is NOT a solenoid problem, it is caused by too much grease on the hammer/grease in the wrong places on the hammer

Third thing, solenoid optimisers do NOT solve the first shot problem, they do however, solve bolt stick and offer an increase in performance. It is this increase in performance that leads many people to believe that there first shot problem has gone, but it is still there, if you don't believe me shoot over a chrono.

does the ND HFV do the same thing, and does it work with the newer impys?
