View Full Version : Is the Impulse excellent in woods games?

One of my friends is looking for a relatively cheap electro gun that he will use a lot for woods games, and he wants one that is durable, small, and wouldn't get shot at.

I offered that an Impulse would probably suit his needs, and as he and I were surfing the web lookin at Impulses, he came to the conclusion that the hoppers on them would stick too far.

Does anyone here have any insight/experience on using the Impulse in woods games; was there any problems? Is it easy for dirt and junk to get into the gun?

if he thinks the hopper will stick out too far then tell him to get a low rise.

the impulse is very nice.....your friend can get a vertical regulator, and a low rise feed tube to shorten it up in height, and they are great for woods games..i have played 2 woods games with mine (i usually do speedball, hyperball, sup air) and it worked great even though i have high rise and a drop forwardso yes i would recommend a impulse to your friend

i usually play a mixture of woods and speed ball (my local field has lots of hybrid fields:- elements of both)

i find that my imp is very well suited to both. if you find that the imp has a profile that is too high then you can get low rise feeds, and a vert reg will also lower your profile. another posibility is to use a remote, yes it isn't common, but not having a big a*s tank on your gun will improve profile no end. one thing to remember is that the imp is a very short marker, and so allows you to get that little bit closer to the cover you are hiding behind, and it is also quite narrow compared to some othe electro's (shocker=brick), which all adds up to a very low profile

so far i have had no problems, even in the thickest, densest undergrowth my local field has to offer.

imps are extremely reliable, and it is very hard for dirt etc to get in, the only thing you may want to do is to cover the dwell (when you have set it) with electrical tape, as the rubber cover can sometimes come off if you dive behind a bunker/log in a rush.

but the thing you have to realise is that the imp is the best electro marker for its price. you will not be able to get any other electro marker with the same reliability, ROF, accuracy, 'upgradeability' and all round performance for anywhere near the same price

i usually play woods games. My stock imp with a freak and a undertow bolt works great in the woods. I havn't even got any dirt and crap on my gun let alone in it.

i know that you can put an impulse on warp feed, but i'm not sure how ( i never really looked into it).

if you do a search for warp feed then there have been a couple of threads in the past week, if not go to the hopper forum and ask there, they will know more about how to do it/ where to get it/ what price

hey roger_rabit, tell your friend they are great guns for anything...i really only play woods and arely rec ball and tourny ball. I got the vision imp and was kinda afraid it wouldnt be good for woods play...I WAS WRONG!!!! It is soo sweet. I can lay down the paint if i wish because the vision allows me shootat leat 14bps also if i need to play more accurately i can single fire and pick people off(it is a very accurate gun). The gun is tall but i woods play i like tall guns...long short guns are a pain and get in the way. I like the fact that it is tall...if you dont like the talll though get a low rise feed port. The last thing is tell him that vision would be a good idea but is not required...the non-vision imps need a good hopper though....btw IMPS RULE!!!!
