i was at spaltz ( in louisiana)this guy was yelling about he didn't want to wear a mask when he was playing.So the owner said to sign a paper saying that he was playing at his won risk and all injuries were his fault. the game started and WHAM!!!striaght off in the eye wasn't a pretty sight.:O

even if he signs the paper...it's ultimately the field owner who gets the blame...even if the guy signs the paper.."it's the owners liability to look after teh safety and wellbeing of the participants at/on their field"

yeah, most fields are insured through the NPPL (I think it stands for National Paintball Players League, but don't quote me) and the owners have to adhere to their provisions ... if they don't, and an accident like that happens, the owner is so SCREWED ... Can anyone say "used to own my own business, but now I'm homeless."?

What makes me mad is that even if the owner is responsible for managing the field, these people who dont wear masks should have to live with the consequences. getting shot in the neck is scary as hell..i've been shot in the neck..barely missed my adam's apple...still..i couldn't breathe for a minute or two...i try to wear a neck gaurd now when i remember to..it's worth it..you don't EVER want to get shot in 3 places...face...neck....BALLS...

i agree with your no shot places, but i always wear a mask.never been shot in the neck or balls, my friend got shot between his collar bone ,but not his ribcage ya know that little dent right there well anyone he was one the groung for a little bit.He recovered in time for the next game:)

I know this is a little late but what would ever possess you argue against wearing a mask? Fog is temporary, blindness is forever. I would feel naked without a mask, my lense has taken too many shots right in front of my eyes. Not to mention getting pegged in the mouth, nose or, ears. That guy is one dumb mother ****er.

Well here you can't even take a pic with out a mask,yes you sign a a piece of paper too walk on.But the reason they got it is too look you up,if you shoot hot your gone for a month,and so on.Its there way too keep track of bad apples.Where i live theres kids with paint ball gun up and down the street.The parents at frist was bad mouthing this sport.Till i came home one after noon. I just got back from a woods game and they talk too me about it. They respect these kids now. Reason is every morning i get up go too work thur the week day in day out except weekends.And the cats and dogs still are not painted.I have taken they kids too the field to do there thing in the passed.If your parents approe of this sport,they should be the ones too talk to the bozo's that are giving you a bad rep. Its kid of funny that they arn't. When i use too ride my Moto cross bike in a field in the back,alot of us did.People use too bad mouth us like we was a biker gang. Our folks got together and talk too them about it.And then things was cool,we where not a bunch of low lifes out too take over the world.Sorry for the long post.And my spelling man i hate to write or type. The main reason that paintball gets a bad rep. is because of the fact that we use "guns" to "simulate wartime battle". The people that talk down on the sport are the people that haven't even seen a marker in their life, or, God forbid, played the game. What you should do is apply for a position as a part time ref at your local field (if they allow this), and invite the people that talk trash about the game and the players to a day of rec ball. Cut the markers down to about 150fps, and give them all pumps. See if they have the right to whine after that. I think I'll try this myself. I can't even get my parents to play, though. :)

And my mom was gonna give me some money.
I went in i only got $5 off!!!!!!
600 paintballs cost me $40.

Good point Ref ... If anything, Younger folk should try to get their parents to come out. I see a few at the field where I play, and it's amazing how supportive they are of the sport ... I even saw one mom getting cranked about a call a ref made. Plus, I think it's up to us older players, the ones with kids who also play, to take point on a lot of this, I mean, if I think it's safe enough for my son to play, then that should in itsself, say a lot about the sport. Also, it's important for us to set an example for the younger players ... the ones who've got the wrong attitude, or try to cheat or shoot hot ... It's up to us to say something about it, not to be Tattletales or Old Fogies, but from a safety and fair-play standpoint.

I think the "Cool Kids" who shoot hot are doing it intentionally to hurt people. If a Ref pulls me out to chrono a gun (a spot check) and it's hot, I've got no problem setting it lower. But I've seen some kids who crank up the velocity after they've chronoed in. Yeah, I'm a tattletale :eek: !
