Most of the time ideas posted here pertain to neat features we could add. This time I'm proposing a different sort of thing.
Upon browsing the "registered members" list, I have found that we have WAAAAAAY more members than actual posters. It is to this effect, I relaized that hey, the bandwidth we're tlaking about here being used, simply to store information and posts of members that don't even exist.....is phenomenal. So...
Why not do what most free e-mail servers do? Inactive accounts get deleted after 2 months of non-activity, unless of course, otherwise notified to the moderators that "Hey, I'm on vacation for the summer" in which case you can work out an exception.
I futher realized the ENORMOUS amount of off-topic and the like threads that STILL exist, despite being months or even a year old and not even showing on the page thread listings. Some of these can be completely erased and never missed. I further propose that inactive threads "delete themselves" if they fall off the pages of threads from view. The "mod forum" will of course not pertain to this rule, and any threads moved there for "evidence" will be safely stored.
I realize that while I'm not great at computers, you guys that made the site are and could write a reasonably easy program to save TONS of bandwidth/server space. Maybe we could even "up" the picture size limit if we cleaned enough crap out of here.
Oh, and BTW, congrats on the registeration required reviews. (RRR I think I'll call them). I already wrote one praise of thanks on the comments page bowing before you, so I'm not going to further demean and humiliate myself by kissing the ground you walk on. At least, I THINK I'm above that.
