I have a problem...i just got this model 98 (used) and it doesnt fire properly...it will fire a few times really fast (liek the sear doesnt catch the bolt for some reason...then sometimes it just wont cock back again

also...like if i hold the trigger it doesnt really come back on its own, i hafta let off of it, then it "clicks" into place...whats going on?

I'm assuming that you aren't using an empty tank. :) Open it up, and make sure the little ball detent is not in backwards. As for the trigger, there's nothing wrong. Unless you have a Reactive Trigger installed, it won't come back on it's own.

I wouldnt be too sure of that. the trigger SHOULD come back into place on it's own in a way.

There are 3 springs that you'll want to pay attention to. there is one that controls the trigger sear, one that is directly attached to the sear-tripping mechanism on the rear of the trigger, and there is another small coil spring at the FRONT of the trigger that helps to pull the trigger back to it's starting position after you fire.

You may find that the small coil spring is missing. it makes the trigger feel kind of sloppy. I'd suggest getting the break-down diagram from .[URL=http://www.tippmann.com/parts/98customparts.asp]and familiarize yourself with what the guts of your gun look like.

as for the recocking problem, that usually indicates that there is a blow-back problem with your powertube. Oil all the seals that you see, give a drip into the back of the powertube, and also into your airhose. fire a few shots through. sometimes if the seals are dry, the gun will hiccup, fart and do all kinds of wierd stuff.

Let me know if this helps. If not, i'll see if i can figure something else out. but my suggestions are typical of older 98's

since it is used, the sear could be rounded off, same with the bolt.

Well, the trigger won't come back if it's still being held.
