First of all, I have seen Excals in play (the field owner owns one), and they are AWESOME!
I was wondering, do both the Excal and the Viking have the equivalent of the Tornado Valve and Lightning bolt?
Can they both run fine on C02?
Someone said the key difference between them is the extra solenoid in the Excal. What are the other differences, if any?
What is a solenoid? what would an extra one do?
is there a bps cap on both? is it 13 bps?
If the Viking is open-bolt, can it effectively fire faster (but obviously less accurately)?
Someone also once said that if the Excal is set to 13 as opposed to 11, it gets sluggish. Why? what happens?
Do they both have cocker barrel threads?
Done! Thanks all for the help.

a solenoid is a pneumatic ram... when air is pumped in one way it pushes the ram that way and when the flow is reversed the ram reverses the direction... fairly simple to understand... The excaliber is a closed bolt operation and the viking is an open bolt.. the viking uses one solenoid because the hammer and the bolt are attached so there for they cycle together;when you pull the trigger the bolt and hammer go forwart then at the farthest position forward air's released and shoots the ball.. the Excal uses closed which means the bolt and hammer function unattached.. the gun starts w/ a ball in the barrel and the bolt closed. however the hammer is open. when you pull the trigger, the hammer drives forward and realeases air and shoots the ball, then the bolt opens after the flow and drops a ball in and closes before the next shot. the advantage to the closed bolt is one accuracy, two consitancy, and three quieter and more efficient operation.. the open bolt can be a little more erratic if you know what i mean.. not much but instead of having strings of 289,289,288,290... youll have more like 288,286, 292,287... and around there... the closed bolt will not have the power on the hammer on the bolt so you wont chop any balls that way... these are the best explanaitions i can giv

when the excal is set to 13 its gonna have shoot down and thats the reason for the sluggy ness
the soleniods arent gonna be fed fast enough.. people that have this problem prolly put an aftermarket reg on it and ****ed it up... the sidewinder that comes w/ it is great... dont change it
the viking will be a little faster becuase soleniods take a lot of air and it has one versus two and that means it will take less air and have less shootdown than the excal
