I did it once while playing in Calgary, I got sniped (in the hand) by a newbie in a tower, I was pissed that he was playing so passive. I ended up getting hit again and called myself out. ARGH! I hate sniper towers!

most of the time, rocky doesn't wipe... but i see chris lasoya wiping all the time... when a ref is not watching him... he wipes alot... but alot of pro-teams, have people who wipe alot.... there is one team who is true and stays true to the rules... that is the family....

I've never wiped, and I rarely see anyone else wipe. Wipers ruin the game, and if you ever come in contact with one: LIGHT THEM UP. It's hard to wipe 10 spots of paint without anyone noticing. I don't think wiping is a very common problem, but it could become one if we let it, and don't penelize those that do wipe.

I've never wiped actually. If I wipe then bunker the whole team, in my mind I've still accomplished nothing, because I didnt bunker the other team, I cheated and won using an unfair advantage. I dont see why you say "pros who wipe" it happens alot on the rec level too, so I think it's wrong to single out the top level players. Avalanche has a ton of talent, but they argue with refs, fight with refs, other players, each other all in front of the camera and Jhon Q Nebie who wants to be just like Lasoya. That aint good for the sport

Now, serious wipers... Thats what TURBO MODE is for and 2 of my team has that. You can't wipe 14 hits.

i think pro's that wipe don't belong on the pro cicruit. it is completely unprofessional to cheat. I say that they incorporate a "Court Martial" type system. Pro's that wipe go back to amateur status. :)

people cheat naturally, it's a part of living and growing. for someone to say they have NEVER cheated, is bull. i'd like to think i've never done it but it's just untrue. i don't do it a regular basis but i have...just as all of you have. (read my reply to has anyone played paintball this way in the general form). as far as "professional" players, (whatever the hell that means).
what can you do about it? if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to see it, does it make a sound? if a ref doesn't see the paintball hit you are you out? most people i would hope would call themselves out but paintball has the no harm no foul rule. unfortunately people are just not honest. i try to be a honorable player but i can't say i've been honorable everytime i've picked up a gun.
lets just say i've shot my own teammates in the back on purpose...i know all of you think that's messed up but when someone pisses you off...you'll resort to any means necessary to get them back.
i've even played dead..literally. my friends walked up on me as i was pretending i was really hurt, laying down over some rocks, not making a sound and not moving, even after they shot a couple my way. i just laid there, i had my gun thrown away from me with the hopper open, balls all over the place, and a sidearm underneath my body. when they rounded up the rest of the crew, and turned me over to see if i was alright...BLAM BLAM BLAM!!! i let everyone have it. it's not like wiping paint but would it be alright to do so in a tourney? my friends said it was dishonest but it's all about survival.
if you can get away with it, do it but realize the consequences of doing so. my friends don't believe anything i say on a paintball field even if i'm telling the truth.
MateoTheConquerer
05-25-2001, 12:06 PM
i have never cheated at paintball maybe tests and other stiff but never paintballl.......
how can u say that if a paintball hits you and the ref dosnt see it are you out **** YES YOU ARE OUT DAMMNIT
how can you come in here and say something like that your probly the person who piked idolize on the poll......
hey man, i said i would call myself out, and i also said i would hope everybody else would do so but that's not always the case. as far as the statement of "i have never cheated at paintball" well you're lying. you might have cheated without realizing it, have you thought of that.
example, you running around trying to move into position, to get a shot on the other team, you go ripping through some brush as paintballs are flying at you like crazy. one of the paintballs hit you in your ammocan(if you have a harness) but you don't feel it, and nobody saw it. so you go through the game playing as would without knowing you were hit. at the end of the game your friend says, "hey you got hit in the back in your ammocan, i got the red paint" yet he's been sitting in the dead zone the whole time while you were running around thinking you were still in it.
i would say that's cheating, i realize that you didn't know and neither did you're friend but yet you still cheated. just because you didn't know you were doing it doesn't make it right, so don't sit there and tell me you've never cheated.

**** NO IVE NEVER CHEATED
NOT AT PAINTBALL ANYWAY.........
R U CALLING ME A LIAR
WELL I GOT TWO WORDS FOR YOU fu*K YOU
so what you're saying is that example i gave has never happened to you ever, nor anything like it because you never cheat...well i am calling you a LIAR!!!. i'm not saying whether cheating is right, i'm saying that sometimes people cheat, either on purpose or by accident. i don't like people that wipe, but i can't sit here and be self-righteous and say it never happens, i've never done that such as you're claiming now.
anyone who reads this will know that you're a LIAR for denying something that has happened to everyone whether they met to cheat or they didn't mean to cheat. i'm just saying it happens. and there nothing you or i can do about it. arguing about something of this nature on the field reduces that play time therefore if something like that happens...you move on and you play again. don't take it so personally i'm trying to make a point.
*other than the LIAR part since i and everyone else knows you're lying. you wouldn't be so upset unless some of what i said was true.
get over it

will you guys stop your bickering.... c'mon now... in the push video... rocky didn't cheat, except when he was chasing the one dude, and was overshooting him... but that's about it... chris lasoya in the push video wiped at least a couple times, right in front of the camera... its sad to see a pro doing it, but its worse when you can rewind it and watch him wipe over and over and over... in that video or even traumahead videos, you see pros wipe, blind fire, overshoot, cheat as much as possible to stay in the game (hoping no one saw what they have just done...) like skyball 2000, you constantly see people blind-firing like crazy...
elTwitcho
05-26-2001, 02:14 PM
I dont get what the problem with blind firing is? No tournament has rules against it, it's only discouraged in rec play because it's dangerous to have newbies randomly sticking their guns over a bunker and firing. A good bunker move is tough to do without reaching over the bunker, and if someone wants to stick their gun out a bunker and fire cross field, let em, they wont hit anything and a hopper is easy to hit regardless if someones face is showing

05-26-2001, 05:54 PM
There is a difference between intentional cheating and accidental. Intentional is wiping the paint off you, accidental is the example yo gave.
Accidents hapen but often in paintball you are completely dependent on the honest of the person you are playing against to call himself out when he is hit. If cheating is normal then why do you get that feeling or regret after you have done it? Unless you contantly cheat and have become numb to it.
I personally know this feeling, and have wipped only once. I was hit in the hand and was unsure what the rule was about hand hits. My teammate next to me said they did't count and that I was still in but I thought I was out. What did I do? I wipped. I later found out that hand hits do count and felt pretty lousy that I had wipped.

i say if you get hit but don't know it, an honest mistake, it's not like you are trying to stay in by any means, it means they did not know they were hit, and they are not cheating, it's not called cheating then, it's called being human.

If you wipe your not even a human. Your a worm!
Guesswho?
06-06-2001, 02:27 PM
I think if you wipe, you should die! I know a kid that wipes ever time and he goes to bunker, if you hit him, he still moves on and then hits you about 20 times, goes for the head! I think cheaters should get the beating of their life!

I lit up a guy that was cheating in a tourney I played in... The whole gallery saw him doing it after I hit him twice. He wouldnt call himself out so I shot him down the length of his body six shots. He finally called himself out but I got penalized for overshooting and got called out of the match. I told the ref what had happened after the match and the gallery confirmed it he got dq'd and they had to play one short the rest of the day. He wouldn't admit he did anything wrong even though the two shots were clearly visible leg shots. I despise wipers and they will pay for doing so...

Cheating is cheating, and yeah, it happens on the rec field and when someone gets caught he should be hauled off the field and sit out several games. But I think the reason Pros are singled out is because tournament level play usually attracts spectators, the public. When the public watches a tournament and sees people cheating, then it reflects bad on the sport as a whole. It's like watching a pro football game and seeing a player cheat. It's viewed by thousands of people and that player gets a bad rep, his team gets a bad rep, etc.
You may not agree with me on this, that's fine. But When you go before the public, you should play with integrity, honor and respect. And yes, the same should apply to players on a rec field.

those who wipe... and they know who they are... even in rec. like this one time we were playing some amateur team at sc village... more like a scrimage... i lit this guy clearly in the gun, and in the face... the guy didn't call himself out... so the next game, as one of my friend's bunkered him, and as he was walking off the field... all my teammates called "bonus ball," and then we just lit him up... 3 guys just laying paint all over his back and his right side... a couple shots in the neck gave him some hickeys. it was comedy.

yah, i dont really check. if i am hit then i am hit, unless its speedball or in a game that i really want to shoot someone. then i will check, usally get hit when running and then i wait until i get into a bunker or something to check for paint.

it's kinda like if you saw the dude in tai-bo, however you spell it, was working out in the weightroom, and on steriods. but, remember he says that he lift weights, all he did was tai-bo. wouldn't you be dissapointed in him if you saw that? just like pro's that are supposed to abide by the rules wiping. but a majority of people have wiped before, and me among many. notice i said a majority, so don't get pissed at me. later.

Sure as hell does harry, thats when u pop em in the head. God that felt good, not to mention it was funny as hell.
too much cheating going on !
i played a few tourneys .i lit up the oponent and he yelled paint check and proceded to bunker me!i no a pro player who admits he wipes ,he said his team looks for players that know how to cheat well.one of his moves is when he get hit in the chest,he takes a dive in the dirt ans the hit is gone.
i play rec ball and there is lots of cheating , i just keep shocking them with my shocker till they go out
,i also know for a fact that the refs are bias in tournaments and rec ball too ,they even help give out the locations and coach players when to advance.
i cant say i have never wiped paint and i get acused of it all the time but most of the time i go out when im hit.
peace
