Sorry for being so new to this stuff, but could you please tell me what a vertical regulator does? Is it really necessary?

Its jsut what it says, a vertical regulator. Instead of having a Max-Flow mounted under the grip, it now serves as a foregrip in the vertical position.

It Regulates Verticaly, Whoaaaaa.... J/k Seriosly it just eliminates the regulator under the grip, and puts it into a grip form which most people like b/c
1. It eliminates the added height of your gun
2. it gives you a grip to grap onto, to better steady your gun
and its worth the 35 dollars so get it

Is the VFF a vertical regulator? And would I be able to install it myself, since that is cheaper? And Does the VFF illiminate the need for a Solenoid Optimizer like a tapeworm? If I got the VFF, would I also need an LPR?

no the VFF (Voodoo Full Flow) is a selonoid optimizers for the older impulses. and yes it would illiminate the need for a selenoid optimizer since u would already have one with the VFF. and if u get the VFF u cant get the LPR (i think)

the VFF is a vertical adapter. you cannot use them on newer impulses. the VFF IS a solenoid optimizer, so it does the same thing as tapeworm and better.
i doubt you could get the VFF unless you already have an imp that has a low enough number. i think i heard somewhere that the LPR and VFF will cancel out each other, not sure though. i really dont recommend an LPR to you yet, it seems you dont know what your talking about.
the vff and the lpr do the same thing but lpr does it better, lpr is not a requirement for the vff is that is what ur asking

for starters... the vff isnt a vert reg.. it was (and the reason i say was will be later explained) a vertical adaptor that gave the solinooid its own airflow.. i think.. so it actually acted as a sol. optimiser. but in the newer imps, which you will most likely get.. vffs and others similar cannot be used. Ask someone with more knowledge of that why.. i dont remember. but there are others that you can still use that serve the same purpose such as the cheapest, tapeworm, and the more expensive but by far the best, the lpr. (low pressure regulator)
hoped this help.. i havent gotten my impy yet.. but i know a lot about them as far as i know.. if you want to know anything real in depth.. you can get the good stuff from the smart people like FOM, johnny rotten, the legend, and a few others.. good look

OK, so I could get the LPR to elimintate the "Sticking Problem". Would I need anything else then? The Sticking problem is all I'm really worried about now. I also would like to know how to change the vertical feed so the gun is more compact?

Sorry, I meant the vertical grip thing (sorry for not knowing the correct termology)

dude, dont get the lpr if you want to eliminate just the sticking problem, its too complicated. get the tapeworm, once its installed youll never have to worry about it. i really dont recommend the lpr to you until you have learned a lot about it. research it and get it if you want.
i dont believe you can change the vertical maxflo to make it any more compact. going from the maxflo on the bottom of your grip to vertically in front of your grip should be good enough. if you want to make your gun more compact vertically then get a low rise.

Ok thanks, the tapeworm just looks kind of cheap and I wasn't sure if it would hold up. Could you take a look at paintballgears Solenoid Optimizer and see if its the same thing and would hold up better? You can check it out at http://www.actionvillage.com/011-8000-449.html Thanks

this is what to get!
1. Imp with vert maxflo(you want a vert because with the under-grip style like mine it is like 15 feet tall)
2.New imp like over 12000 serial # can't have vff's
3. get an lpr because it reduces kick,a lot more consistent, solenoid optimizer(if you get the vertical adapter one). This means clears "sticking problem".
4.get a imp because you won't regret it!
5.super easy to maintain.
6.you could get a low rise if you want it more compact. but you will probably need a halo or vision with that because you will not have th 5 ball stack with the stock high rise. This means you will probably chop if you have a fast finger.

i have heard bad things about the eclipse noid' optimiser.. but hey.. dude... its your choose.. i personally would go with the tapeworm over the eso... :|

the tapeworm is different than the eclipse optimizer, but still does the same thing. I think the eclipse would serve you better, (not sure) although i have heard almost nothin about it. some people say its bad. but the tapeworm is really good too, even though it may look cheap, its not as if your imp will suck with the tapeworm, it will perform much better with it. i would probably recommend the tapeworm, its cheaper and MUCH less harder to install.

The only LPR I've seen is from EPBO and it is called the Drop in LPR Kit. Is this the vertical one you are talking about that will make it so it acts as a Solenoid Optimizer?

Also, where can I get the Maxflo

Last question, could you tell me exactly what the vertical regulator at http://www.actionvillage.com/011-8000-609.html is. Would it work as a solenoid opitimizer?

no the drop in kit comes with a nd cap that you put reg onto. The cheaper one is the vert adapter one. This one you have to buy the 2 hole vertical adapter and you have to buy a gas-thru grip if you don't have a vert reg. The cheaper one is the same price once you buy the vert adapter. The maxflo comes standard on all imps. it is just about the best reg on the market. That and the sidewinder.

that is an aff with a gage hole in front and a hole for the prv(pressure relive valve).

not aff nds version of the vff. Vertical full flow. sorry

I'm really sorry for being so new to this, but could you maybe sum that up for me so I understand it cause you just lost me?

06-04-2002, 05:53 PM
lol i told ya so downdog:D
in other words, what you just showed us is a VFF. a gage hole is where the gage goes, it shows you the valve pressure. the prv is a brass knob thing on your max flo that will vent the pressure if it gets too high, it will vent at 240 psi. if it didnt vent the pressure, it would go straight the solenoid, and POP you would need a new one. smart parts recommends that you keep your maxflo under 200 psi.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm going to get a regular Impulse until I can afford the vision upgrade (have to find out where to get that). I'm also going to buy a tapeworm, smart parts on-off valve with anti-syphon 20oz co2 tank. I have a ricochet and I will use that. Eventually I will probobly buy a Vertical Regulator and Sticky Grips. Thanks again. I hope I got this all straight, now that I've filled up the whole forum with my questions. Thanks again and goodnight!

i seriously suggest getting the vert reg FIRST, its only like 30 or so more. but whatever you want is fine.

Where are you getting the vertical regulator from. I saw one on the smart parts website for $150.00 and I'm not really ready to spend over $5.75 on a gun.

So is the $480.00 deal at EPBO what I want? It comes with the Impulse in black, with the tape worm, Vertical maxflow regulator, and Blade trigger

yes that is a very good deal, i say go for it.
O and one more pointer, CALL THEM!!
dont order online, its a lot easier to do it on the phone, the guys down there are very nice and helpful. i ordered my $900 RAT from them last friday and they answered every question i had.
some orders have been lost because they were online i believe, its a lot more reliable and less of a hassle to call them to order it.
the number is 1-810-245-1914
