Is paintball really all skill???? Like you can get shot by any type of gun! am i right i have been shot by i few newbies with pumps and i am a good player player. what i mean is i find paintball is more stratagey then skill cuz anyone can be hit with a shot out from a talon! but if you play the right staraiges you wont be hit! is the whole game of paintball just stragie or do you have to have some sorta skill i think it is stragie with the skill of being able to hit your target! what is your view on the sport how do you think it is played and what the just of it is??????
i think this is important to talk about!

I don't think it's all skill. I think strategy and luck are also important.

You gotta learn from experience, it's the only way to improve your game. It also helps when you don't make stupid moves (like when a newb climbed a tree!). Toss in a small dose of luck, some distractions (beautiful woman on the sidelines) plus skill and strategy and you have...a robot.

actully it does require skill and experiance if u throw 2 people out on a field both with cockers one expirenced and ones first time the first timer would 80% get out

Depends on the game. Speeball has very very little strategy. I'm sorry but that's the way it is. YOu plan a general plan like "Rush the fifty" "play defencively" or whatever, but there isnt alot of strategy in the true meaning of the word. True that there are key bunkers on a speedball field, but they're obvious. It isnt a matter of "Oh what a brilliant move, who could have thought of that" as it is "we lost our tape guy and any person would have moved up and beaten us". If a team wins in speedball, it's because they have good technical skills, and they know when an opportunity presents itself. That's what I love about speeball, you get tiny tiny windows of opportunity, so you gotta act instinctively, but when it works, it's amazing :)

Speeball does too have a strategy. Mine is "Shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more, and when everyone's dead try and get the flag"

Mine has alot of "If I had just one paintgrenade, with the whole team withing 40 feet of me...."

I agree with Twitcho to a degree. You may know the key bunkers, but you gotta get to them, you just can't walk down the middle of the field, "Excuse me guys, I'm just gonna get behind this bunker. Do you mind?" Maybe strategy is the wrong word for speedball. I think it's more about tactics. A strategy usually means a plan to get a large group of people to accomplish a goal, whereas tactics are what small groups do, like three or five man teams.
It's like, if you're team is good at leap frogging from one bunker to the next, or providing cover while the front guy dashes for the flag ... I'd say that's tactical skill.
And as far as skill, I'd say there are a lot of skills that come into play: aiming, snap shooting, sliding into bunkers, reloading quickly, being able to size up what the opposing team is doing; sizing up the field ... these are skills that every paintballer has to acquire and develop.

That's what I meant, speedball requires a much higher degree of skill than the woods or urban setting, yet the strategy is non existent. There is no room for sublety on the speedball field. If you want to get to that key bunker, you're gonna have to snapshoot, bunker and sweetspot your way to it. You're not gonna be executing much of a plan

Speed ball requiers a gun that has i nutty fireing rate and many targets yes to some degree you need some sort of tactical adavatage mabey in the way you brake and group! i do think you need to try to out play the opposing team with a smarter game plan! but the plan has no stragie it is made up of a tactic like waiting for the other team to open fire or saty in one big group or to just stay behind a bunker and wait for the enamy to try and advance!
Stragy- The science and art of using all the forces of a nation to execute approved plans as effectively as possible during peace or war. b. The science and art of military command as applied to the overall planning and conduct of large-scale combat operations.
tactic-a maneuver.
they seem to kinda of envole each other eh!

Playing great paintball everyday is having the skills and now how to accomplish your goals. To play great paintball everyday you have to have the drive, the motivation and the burning desire to push yourself beyond your own limitations, to break down the walls that devide you and your aspirations, always remembering what Napoleon said: Thoughts are things and whatever a man can concieve and believe he can achieve. Only when we strive for perfection can we achieve excellence.

As in all sports, paintball is a combination of skill, knowledge, ability, and luck.
1. You need knowledge. YOu need to know how to play, where to go, stragety, experience in playing against other people.
2. You need skill. Knowing what to do is not enough. you have to be good at it. Knowing what a snap shot is and being able to do it or do it well is very different. Knowing that you must play tight vs. the ability to play tight is very different.
3. Also with skill is the abiltity to use that knowledge. You must have the speed to get to the bunker. You must have the ability to pull that trigger at 7-8 bps. You must have the ability to spot, move, and shoot the other player before they get you.
4. As in anything we do, there is luck. How many times have you just happen to have gotten hit by a stray shot... You can be way behind a bunker, but if that pb just happens to make it through a crack or you happen to fire a lucky snap shot. Hey whatever works....

I think you have no skill in typing. You really should practice more on typing than paintball. I have to have incredible skill just to understand what you are trying to say.

i think alot of it is lck when you are palying with enbies at a local field and they are just shooting everywhere and one will hit you. Or even worse once i was playing and a ball BOUNCED and broke on my leg and i got called out!
