First of all it is a little high, but the only way you can make it lower is by buying a pressure regulator. The pressure is high because the pressure in your tank is high, and this could be because you left your tank out in the sun, or it somehow got warm....in cold weather that tank psi could drop as low as 450psi, and then you might have some recocking problems, but since it's the summer this shouldn't be a prob unless you live in Alaska. The regulator on the JT does not change the psi since it is a flow regulator, not a pressure one. The best thing you can do is just leave it alone, because basically it doesn't do anything very important. Keep the screw that is there flush with the silver body of the reg, and then you won't cause yourself any extra problems such as leaks. When I was a n00b and I first got my gun, I was worried about the reg also, and I fiddled with it, and I was lucky I didn't do any damage, but now I know I shouldn't have messed with that stuff, and it's better not to learn from your mistakes. Now I feel I'm relatively experienced with spyders, and I know what I'm doing, but for you I wouldn't recommend doing anything to your gun. Just go out and play a few games and get a feel for it and how it shoots and performs. Maybe in the future you will want to upgrade or go LP like me and ice, and maybe some other people are doing to their JTs. The first upgrade I recommend is a 12v revvy or a ricochet ak, and you won't regret this purchase. The stock barrel is very nice. I know you didn't ask about what to buy, but since I understand you're new to the wonderful sport of paintball, I will give you some tips on what to do, because I didn't really find any JT related info for n00bs.
