Hey Im a newbie here and also for the sport of paintball. I am about to purchase my first gun and here are a few of my choices. Spyder Compact, M98, Titan T3, National Paintball GT2000, Rebel. Of those following guns which do you think are the best and what gun do you reccomend. I kind of want to stay clear of the Compact and the M98 because way too many people have them.

i have a rebel and i like it, just got a bunch of sweet upgrades for it too, only prob with it is that because it is top cocking you cant put on a sight rail.. It is just as upgradeable as the m98 and the compact though, takes all spyder parts but has the benifet of the standard ASA adapter holes instead of spyder ones.... hope this helps!

I can't recommend the Titan, the only one I used wasn't very reliable and was kind of heavy. And are you talking about the Spyder Compact or the Compact 2000?

I was talking about the Compact. Basically i want some people to reccommend a gun to me that is in the 100-150$ price range and is good for newbies. I kind of want to stay clear of the Spyder and the m98 because everybody has them and i dont want them saying you are copying me. I can get a Sheridan Equalizer for 75 which includes hopper and 9 oz tank. Is that a good deal????

Get a Piranah ... BTL or VTL ... you can get a complete package through most stores that include the mask, tank and other stuff ... reasonably priced, and the Piranahs are so easy to clean and maintain.

Just my penny's worth.

I would have to agree with MuckRaker. Go with the Pirahna if you have a problem with the M98 and Spyder. The STS is a good gun for the money. My advise is to stick with the big three for the lower end markers.....actually 4. Kingman, Tippmann, PMI, and ACI. They all make good guns and will stand behind them. The last thing you want as someone new to the sport is a gun made by a company that will go out of business.......or with crappy service. All the big 4 have comparable customer service and are pretty stable.

Hey I think I might by the sheridan Equalizer because its a pretty good deal I think Do you think so too people??? I get the gun, hopper, co2 tank, and some aftermarket barrel lots of people put on equalizers thats worth 99$ new?? IS THAT A GOOD DEAL BE HONEST WITH ME??? Now I know some of you might be some experts on paintball but please remember this is my first gun and it isnt gonna be a Angel. I went to some forum and they were all telling me to get an Angel, yea like I have that much money. I really dont care if the grip isnt good either because it feels fine to me some people start saying the grip sux.So pretty much I have 5 questions
1. Is it a good deal?
2. How much was the equalizer when it was brand new?
3.How much is it worth in good used condition?
4. Is it true the design is based on the Auto Cocker?
5. What kind of upgrades are avalible for this gun?

somebody please answer those 5 questions.

not sure about the equalizer but auto cockers are incredably complex (for most) so i will have to say no

They are not that comlex, nothing that spending the time to learn your gun won't cure.

Personally I would go with the M98 or spyder because you can upgrade them alot easier(Trust me you will want to upgrade)but if you dont want to copy off of friends get a PMI gun in your price range

Rent.... get your game together first befor ya go jumpin into a gun! Borrow guns.. check them out for yourself... talk to people IRL nothin worse then getting stuck with a gun ya dont like! It dont really matter what kind of gun people tellyou to get, ask questions about the guns. Guns are different to each player. Its almost relegious. everyone will feel thier gun is better.. rent for a while, be a beginner.... learn the game. Nothing scares me more then a beginner with thier new expensive gun.
be cool!

Troy has VERY good advice. I went 6 months without my first gun, which was a STringray. I wanted to learn more about the guns and stuff, before i went out and bought my gun. I mean, it was only 4 months before i sold the STingray and bought the TL, but it was stil worth it. NOw i know how to take care of my gun. I wouldn't go out and buy a cocker as your first gun. If you do decide to get a gun, go with the SPyder Comact 2k or the Model 98. BOth are great guns, although i do favor the Spyder

I vote for a spyder as your first marker......over a cocker...

Reasons....
1. easy to fix and maintain
2. easy to get help with....on and off the field
3. easy to get parts for ...on and off the field
4. tons of upgrades.....(believe me I have never seen two spyders that were upgraded that were the same....)
5. reliable and will grow with you.....stock they are reliable....and as you learn about your marker and develope your game...you can upgrade it according to your style of play.....
6. and most important...you won't be a newbe with a better marker than me......

yeah the cocker is a complex gun compared to the Spyder, and requires more attention. I say start out with a Spyder so you can get to know the guns more. ALso Spyders are very upgradable..just look at some of the setups that there are for the spyder, like Ptflyer and myself...since it is upgradeable, the gun can grow with you, as in performance. LIke, as a newbie, you don't need a full lp gun..but as you get better..maybe add a bolt, a reg... and eventually you will have your gun to full potential. Not that cockers are bad...i'm actually getting one very soon...i just dont' recommend it as a first gun.

Id start of with a spyde,t hen move to the cocker. With the spyder, u can learn the basics of the game, and then decide what kind of a player u are. Find out what u want in a gun, and then decide to go to another gun, u might find out its not a cocker.

When you get a couple games on your belt, then i would suggest a M98 and a new barrel. I've had spyders in the past, and you get this sorta feeling that if you drop it, it will break. Dunno though, thats just me, but i would go with and M98 custom. FOr the price you pay you get a heck of a lot! Tippman will back their products up 100%. That itself is a deal to be beaten! You will like the tippman, but you definatly hafta get a new barrel if you plan to play rec games often, becuase that stock barrel will just not cut it (not amny do anyways!).

The GT-2000 is way too underrated. Ive had this gun for awhile now, and I love it. It is a great starting gun, except the stock barrel (which is normal for most novice guns). It is as upgradeable as a spyder compact and has a few more features that i like (vertical feed, rear cocking-bolt, heavy feel, standard bottom-line). You can also save money, if u plan on buying an x-chamber or regulator, by buying the GTV model which has a vertical bottle adapter. Ive heard great things about the model 98 also. The best advice i can give is to research for a couple of days or a week or two and find the pros and cons of each gun. Then you can narrow it down to two and choose from there. Good luck.

I'd say you get the m98, but if you don't want that you should look into rebels probably.

if you have the money i think you could hit the ground running w/a std mag setup, base mags are $200 and http://www.1-2-3paintball.com
