the impy has the electric board which sends a singnel through the board to the solonoid to shoot. You can dry fire a impy if you have some kind of optimizer and a air source tho.

If there's no air the gun will just click(the solenoid is 'firing'). However, since theres no air, nothing will happen.
If you have air the gun will fire. However if you just have a stock imp you might get bolt stick.

its not recommended tho if u must remove the barrel & hold a rag over the front to create the necessary blowback.

It's not going to hurt anything, you just might get some bolt stick.
dry firing without air will make your gun click, and the led on the back light up, thats all
if you want to dry fire with air (but no paint) then you must have one of the following to eliminate bolt stick, a solenoid optimiser, a barrel condom, or an industrial silencer (ask your local shop, they fit on instead of a barrel and quieten the noise, as well as providing back pressure.
you should not dry fire (with air) your imp without one of the above fitted, as it will cause bolt stick
