i hear this lightens the trigger pull, but does it make the sear wear out faster? i want to do this, because i kinda overstretched my sear spring, and have no replacement, i'm waiting on tippmann's replacement....yah, thanx in advance....

yes that works, and no it doesent wear out the sear faster. but heres an i dea? why dont you just cut the part of the sprong off that u dont need? that will also make it lighter........

OR instead of playing around with the searspring, you get a responce trigger!
but if ur cheap like me, do this: get a spring from a pen or mechanical pencil, cut it so that it matches in length with you current trigger spring. now put the new one in ur gun, and you've got a lighter trigger pull with excellent snap back.

Replacing the sear spring with a rubber band is the most effective noise reduction mod you can do for the M98 short of a new barrel. It's really very noticable.

I'm thinkin a braces rubber band would snap... but maybe not.

Kamotz...ya sure it's not the bolt slam mod? I would tend to think that'd quiet the 98 more than the rubber band mod. I could be wrong though...I haven't done the rubber band thing myself...

it works great, it makes your gun quieter and a lighter pull

I've done the bolt slam mod too, but I was surprised at just how effective the rubber bands were. The bolt slam mod works, but the bands work better.

I have. =)

With a quiet barrel you can make an M98 quieter than most autocockers. =)

ive tried replacin the sear spring with a rubberband and all it did for me is chop paint. i know it was the rubberband because as soon as i put it in i chopped paint like crazy (i had my flatline on too!!! ) and when i put the sear spring back in i didnt chop anymore. i tired a regular tight rubber band, i think i cut it in half and tied it back together to make it tighter. wonder where i can get my hands on a braces rubberband. hey would those rubberbands they use to steralize calfs work? or are those bands too bulky?
