i have a 20 co2 tank and everytime i take it off co2 gets out. Any idea how i could stop this, or is this why you get an on off valve?

Yep you answered your own question the only way to stop that is with an on/off valve, but you only loose about 5-10 shots depending on how fast you remove the tank so it really is not that big of a loss.

Ya pretty much its impossible to stop co2 from escaping from your tank if it still has gas in it. It is very nice to have an on-off valve. In the long run you'll save money off you lost co2 and broken o-rings. Its a very good investment for 15bucks.

There is no problem with your tank or anything like that. The on/off valve won't do anything to stop this. It's the excess gas escaping your marker when you unscrew it. You aren't losing any CO2 from the tank.
