I would ask an admin to move this to the barrel forrum.

To answer your question I wouldn't get either of them. Go with the freak and when you get money buy some inserts.

The boomstick is slightly better than the AA, but you won't notice the difference unless your shooting platform is completely still, so there's really no difference during regualr play. However, the progessive is almost as good as these barrels and you have it already, so save your cash and make your next barrel a freak kit.

Go with the AA, but better yet is a FREAK back with AA front.

i see you all like the freak...i've shot it and i had no problems with it, but what do you think about having a boomstick for medium sized paint and another barrel like a small bore all amercan just in case a tourney uses a smaller paint? these two barrels together would still be cheaper than the freak. i believe that the freak is the best barrel around, just trying to explore all my options. thanks

A freak with 2 inserts would cost you like 125$-145$, a boomie alone runs about 105$....get the freak back, whatever front you want, and get 2 inserts.

what size inserts do you recommend? maybe like a .691 and a .687?

Are you using an undertow? What paint do you use most?

87 and 91 are good, you can shoot pretty much any paint with those inserts

Just get a full freak system with an All American Front

i use mainly kickn metallix and diablo blaze or inferno. i think both are like .689-.691 inferno may be a little smaller

the .691 would be the best probably...cause you can shoot pretty much any paint with that. Most paint is like .688 or .689 anyways...

When I shoot blaze I use a 684 which is perfrect but if you want a loose ball-barrel match get a 687

You really dont' need them all.... .687 and .691 are pretty good, those 2 will let you shoot pretty much any paint in any weather.

Freaks are too complicated. There's so many threads/orings/fittings that they never line up right. Quality control just can't be good (and it isnt) with so many parts comming into play.

Buy 2-3 good one piece barrels (dye, cp, lapco, etc) or 2-3 solid bore backs (jt, cp, etc). Insert systems are junk.

Agreed, having owned 3 Freaks, I can say I'm not going back to them.
