I had Arthritis hit me when I was 14.
Didn't stop me from joining the military and EARNING my Black Beret the HARD WAY.
Even now - as I am in my 30 somethings - I still have it - but it doesnt even slow me down.
Its mind over body. Hey - because of fused vertibre in my neck - I get migranes about 2 or 3 times a WEEK. I still goto work and smile...
SUCK UP THE PAIN AND TAKE IT.
Even typing, my hands can get sore - so what?
I just suck it up and take an Alieve.
PAIN PURIFIES.

I don't have arthritis, but I damaged the rotor cuff in my left shoulder and have ligament, tendon and cartelidge damage in my right knee. The shoulder acts up sometimes when I over exert myself, the knee is still healing. I agree with Ogre, sometimes you have to suck up the pain and continue with life. Don't let Arthritis sideline you. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, if you're diagnosed that is. There are medications he can prescribe to keep the effects of arthritis to a minimum, and you can take over the counter stuff to help with pain. Don't think for a minute you need prescription pain medication. When I injured my knee i refused a pain med prescrip. Why, I don't want a narcotic slowing me down. You can handle pain in your mind. Remember, it'a all about attitude.

ok i dont think i have arthritis, but let me say a pretty long story. i have a fractured back, its a stress fracture in my lower back, it will never heal, but my muscles are building up around it.....so that hurts all the time during stress. also, my knees have been hurting for the past few months, a sharp ache. i think ima go to the doctor soon. my mom has really bad arthritis, so i hope i dont get it. and also, you cant get arthritis from cracking knuckles, ask any intelligent doctor

wait wait wait...you can get arthritis from cracking your knuckles too much?!? I do that all the time and, I guess I have lost some agility in my fingers, but I never thought of arthritis. Oh no....:(

Dont panic, you can't get arthritus from your fingers. What your experiencing is called 'hypochondrism' your fingers have always probably had the same agility factor. It's just that maybe in the past, they were a little stiff, but you never thought much about it. Now when someone said 'that you can get arthritus from cracking your knuckles' you think back and remember all the times your fingers didnt 'quite work' don't panic man, you cant get arthritus from crakin' knuckles... Its genetic. :)
I'm a hypochondriac...
Studies have shown that people have 'believed they were going blind, and actually made themselves go blind' its not a joke, hypochondrism is a big deal. If you STRONGLY (very strongly, and for a long time I.e. more than 7 months) believe that you are getting cancer... your mind can actually make you get cancer. So now the problem is... You cant think about having arthritus, or you have to think you dont have it.
The trouble is...
I have to think about not thinking about it, therefore I think about it, which makes it worse. When I get my paintball marker, it will give me a good activity to focus on and forget all this crap about arthritus.
If anyone actually read all that, I give you my respect. Sounds like a boreing lecture from a health teacher.
