I read somewhere that you need a on/off co2 for an impulse. IS this true??

You should be using a anti-syphon tank (so your Imp ain't sipping liquid co2) And all anti's come with an on/off valve!

AS? Do u mean ASA?

Not all of them do. A lot of companies are making matching On/Off ASA's to match their drops and cradles

Stealth meant Anti-siphon when he said AS I believe. He was correcting someone who said ALL anti-siphons come with an on/off.

I own an Impy (13000) and it is not needed to have a on/off. U do however need an anti-siphon otherwise you'll fry the electronics. No need for on/off I don't use one and all u do when takin off the co2 is fire it when it's dischargin.

On/off's do not come with Anti-Siphons. It's just more stores sell the combination of a SP on/off with an Aniti siphon tube installed. I have a 20oz tank with only an anti siphon.

I have a 20oz on/off AS and from what ive heard you only need an on/off to save your o-rings right? The reason im asking is you dont have an on/off on nitro.

OK, lets clear the air on a couple things.

First, an Anti-siphon tube is just that, a tube that prevents the liquid co2 from being sucked into your marker.

Second, you can have a CO2 tank with or without an on/off AND with or without an anti-siphon tube. This is to say , you can have an anti-siphon without an on/off. However it is most common to have the Smart Parts on/off with anti-siphon installed on a tank.

Third, the purpose of the on/off is to slowly "air up" your marker. This is to prevent shocking the max-flow and overpressurizing the solenoid.

Fourth, the anti-siphon keeps liquid co2 our of you marker. This will make the marker more consistant and reduce the wear and tear on the o-ring. Has nothing to do with electronics.

Lastly, {pauses to take a breath} some high pressure tanks have on/off's like the max-flow system because it was designed to work with Shockers and Impulses.
