Save for the minimag but DON'T buy the A-5. The A-5 is preety complicated even though it is a blowback, and it will not perform as good as you think.

Are you a beginner? Then i would definately go with the spyder e-99. It is within your current budget, it is reliable and forgiving, and it is easy to understand. It is also electronic so it has a high rate of fire.

Wow, we are helpfull haha. Yeah if ya have enough for the A-5 buy a cocker, ph33r is right. Plus afterwords if ya quit it'll sell for much more. And if ya don't like the cocker talk to me i have tons of freinds who would pay well for a used cocker.

not only that, a cocker is one of the most upgradeable and customizable guns out there... there are thousands of upgrades.

But so is the E99 if hes not willing to spend the cash or doesn't like the feel of a cocker though. We need to give him lots of optinos, but if he plans to stay in the sport a cocker is a good bet.

ya of those choices i say get the mini mag if u have enough for n2 or if u cant afford n2 get the e-99. but the others are right. if u can afford a a-5 u should just get a 2k2 cocker. they work so much better and are probably the most upgradable gun i have ever seen. if ur a newbie though that is prone to breaking stuff and arent mechanically inclined in taking apart markers id get a 98 custom since there tanks and are almost imposible to break. one of the fields i play at have had there m98s fora couple years now and they still are running like new.

if ur gonna play rec ball only, go with an A-5, its low maintenance, I've had no ball breaks in 2 cases and its an awesome rec gun, but if ur gonna play tourneys too, do what every1 else is sayin and get a cocker, whatever you do, don't get the e-99

Do you have any logic to back up that statement? I have a flash, which is an e-99 with the charger and better looks :) , and i couldn't be happier. It is infinitely upgradeable, it has a high rof, it is cheap, it is simple, and it is reliable. I see nothing wrong with it. and you have an a-5......an a-5 is in the same league as an e-99.

If hes going to play rec ball only, then he should buy the m98 not the overpriced A-5 that is just a M98 with a weird hopper and slightly improved trigger pull. The e99 is a fine gun too so don't flame stuff you don't know about paintball4eva77. I've shot the A-5 so i do know what i'm talking about.

Isnt a Cocker a finiky marker tho?
Also if I need a hammer or portiable speed-bump, than the 98 could be my back up:D

:) I agree totally. Except he should get an e-99, not a 98 :). Its a preference issue, and i like the "feel" or the e-99 more. You obviously like the "feel" of the tippmann more. The a-5 is also lighter, i think. But the hopper is an awkward shape, and you cannot add a halo b or something.

With the choices you gave me, I'd go with the Tippmann 98c cause its one of the most upgradable guns. If you plan to save up for the A - 5, why not go for the WGP Autococker. Its about the same price. The A - 5 is all plastic and has no grips!!! The autococker is a better buy but if you don't save up, get the 98c. Spyders and Piranhas are nothin' compared to the almighty 98c.

Just get a cocker. You won't be disappointed, and if you get it timed right and don't mess w/ it, it will never give you any trouble, or at least mine hasn't, and I've shot tons of paint trhough it.

Well why is the Cocker so good, and liked so much...it looks like u could get alot of dirt in the the thing compared to a minnimag...
If a a 98 is a 10 in reliabilaty ..than what is a Cocker?

The a-5 is so much more than an m98 with a weird hopper and a slightly improved trigger pull, its a built in loader that will never chop a ball on you, plus its a lot easier to maintain when needed over the m98. I'm not flaming the e99, im just saying, compared to the A-5, minimag, and a cocker, if they had the money, who would pick an e99? I'm sorry if i offended any electro spyder owners but i have had experiences with them and would much rather have an A-5. I was just giving the guy my opinion, which doesn't have to be the same as everyone else's, its the way I see things. Again, I'm sorry if I offended any of you and Pepper, good luck with your search for a paintball marker.

I'd get the minimag. They are reliable and are very nice. I wouldn't get the A5 if you are right handed and shoot out of the right side of a bunker a lot. The huge hopper thing makes a nice easy target.
Is this your first gun? If so, keep it simple and get a Spyder or something along those lines. You will have more money for playing and paint if you get a cheaper gun. Money can't buy skill, remember that. Then again, if you have played before and know you are willing to invest money into the sport, I'd get the mag. You won't be disappointed.
Cockers are nice guns too. They are really fun to shoot and are the most upgradable guns on the market. If you like tinkering though, you better know what you are doing. They can and eventually will get screwed up somehow (such as if you add a new 3-way or trigger frame, they will need to be retimed).
Tippmanns are decent guns. I don't like them though. Too bulky and weird shaped. They also always have the flippin' hopper sticking way out the right side. It's a preference issue though.
Best thing to do is try every gun you can and see what you like best.

If you're a beginner, I would stay away from the cocker unless you have someone that can teach you how to time it and tinker with it and stuff. I would go with the mag. Its simple, solid, and performs great. But try each one out for yourself and choose which one you like best.
