What exactly does it mean when you go low pressure or high pressure. Which is better and what do you need to make the switch?

Low pressure basically means your marker operates at a pressure below 200psi. Also it means that the air pressure applied to the ball starts off low and builds up behind the ball. In theory making the ball less prone to breaking.

There are ways of lowering the pressure in your marker, turning down the reg. etc. But that wont do anything. If your marker is low pressure it will always be low pressure, if its high pressure it will always be high pressure. Though I think there is some kind of spring kit availiable for spyders to lower their operating pressure.

Some people will say low pressure is better (most actually). But I think its just a gimmick. E-mags run at 400psi (quite high) but only apply 60psi on the ball, but its in a burst not let out over X amount of milliseconds. Low pressure markers are also a lot quieter, when they fire a paintball. If you dry fire a low pressure marker you get this loud "CRACK!" sound.

Why do you get a "crack" sound when dry firing?

I have absolutely no idea. Its just a characteristic of low pressure markers, nothing to worry about. Unless your in a rec-game and you've spent 1/2 hour creaping up on someone and your gun miss-fires.

u get that crack b/c u use more air with a low pressure gun

you get the crack because since there is less presure on the ball it needs the presure off the ball to help it recock

low pressure guns are quieter becuase less molecules of air explode when they come out of the barrel. and low pressure guns are more higher end guns but ther is a kit for the 98c that turns it low pressure. cockers mags and electro pneumatics. that is why people buy higher priced electro's than just buying a e frame for a spyder. because even with a frame it is still high pressure and you cant use soft paint. in tourney's people like to use soft paint so it will certainly break on the oponent.
