he cut about 4 - 6 inches off his 16inch AA barrel because he thought it was too long. he doesnt believe me when i tell him its going to affect his accuracy, can you all give me some facts about what it will do to the accuracy?

OH MY DEAR GOD!

Yeah, your friend is screwed. A lot of the accuracy of the AA lies in the porting, and now that it's gone, then so is most of his accuracy.

Not to mention he hacked half a foot off his barrel! Unless he used a CNC lathe and a qualified tech, he's screwed. All the metal burrs, the imperfection... it's a tragedy. He'll need to buy a new one. No chance in helping him now.

We've lost another one, Jim...

well, if he cut it professionally, it would just be more efficient...

length has little effect on accuracy to a certain extent

i cut 3" off my 16" 2k2 aa barrel because it was to long and it is just as accurate as it was before just alittle louder, and there is no burrs and i used a hack saw to cut it off, just took a counter drill bit to take the edge off the end of the barrel and filed down the outside edge to make that nice and smooth and there i have a 13" barrel that is just as accurate as the 16"

my friend sold his little crap $30 barrel back to the store he got it from and they paid $15 for it and he got a bigshot. thatd been smarter than cutting it of imho, but wtf do i know? im a newbie cause i dont call it "tags" i call them kills. lol i am

the second half is a larger bore

Cornmuffin- Yes, it does. Call SP. Call a store. Call anyone who owns one. The porting reduces noise, and helps with accuracy. Sure, it's not the only factor, but it does matter.

Glenn Palmer himself said that if a barrel has less porting, it will be louder and have more muzzle blast. Muzzle blast is when the ball exits the barrel, and air escapes behind it. This extra push of air occurs after it has exited, and can push the ball in any direction, thus reducing accuracy. Lots of porting and a muzzle break can help stop this. So, by slashing off the tip of his barrel, your friend did some damage. It's good that there's no burrs and he filed it down, but he will notice a change in his shot pattern.

Anyone wanna argue with Glenn? Good.

That should be against the law. Like cutting the barrel off a shot gun so it's too short.
He should of sold it and bought a different one.

I have thinking about this some-more and I wonder why in the heck anybody with any common sense would want to do something like this. The All American is a great barrel and why would you want to ruin it. It would be like like taking one carb off a Hemi-Cuda or the 4 off a .45 auto. ?

why doesn't he try a more useful way of wasting his money, like trying to heat his house by lighting dollar bills on fire? dummy.
