I had the same thing happen to me, it was actually pretty weird. I was shooting off a couple rounds in my backyard, when it randomly started leaking out of the barrel. Turned out that my bolt had pinched a ball, don't know how cuz i was shooting like 1 shot a second. When i took off the co2 tank and screwed it back in it worked fine. I tried to push the bolt back so that it re-cocks but that didn't work and i did nothing but waste gas. I thought the problem was because liquid was getting into the valve but since u run it on a stabilizer it must be something else...

Sounds like your orings are getting flat you might want to sent it in to ICD for a rebuid or you can just do it yourself. ICD sells the rebuild kits. Call them for $ (208) 468-0446

Try cleaning the reg. It helped solve a lot of my problems.

Try taking off the brass valve tip with some padded pliers. Check the oring and replace it if needed. The icd manual says that its a size -010 urethane 90 oring. Here is a quote from http://www.mindspring.com/~prcarter/icd/fox_main.html

Gas Leak down the Barrel or Powerfeed
If a hiss is coming from your gun after firing it, or when it is first powered up, you probably have a leaking Piston O-ring. Listen at the powerfeed to confirm; DON'T look down the barrel!

Tom at LSU's Classic Desert Fox FAQ suggests:
'The main cause of this is liquid CO2 getting into the gun; for example, by firing the gun while pointing it down at the ground. Even an antisiphon tank cannot help you here (that's why I went with an expansion chamber and remote) - don't fire the gun where the front of the tank is below the back end of the tank. You can clear this up in the field usually. Turn the powerfeed off to stop ball flow and fire the chambered ball into the ground. (Make sure people around you know what you are doing and are wearing masks). Now you should have no balls feeding. Point the gun up into the air and fire off a couple of shots of gas; this should clear out the liquid and solve the problem.'

Another likely cause of this is that the Valve Tip has loosened. If the tip unscrews, (and it can since the bolt is turning slightly each time the marker fires...) then the Piston O-ring is also loose and air will escape through the bolt. De-gas and field strip the gun, and pull off the Bolt to see the brass Valve Tip. It should be seated tightly against the front of the Air Chamber with no gaps. If it is loose, go ahead and unscrew it to check the white urethane Piston O-ring for damage. If possible, use a fresh piece of plumbers tape on the threads of the Valve Tip before you screw it back in. Don't use Loktite, this can damage the O-ring seal. Reassemble the marker and test it on the range.

If the Valve Tip is tight, or the fix above doesn't work, then you may have a worn Piston O-ring that must be replaced. De-gas and field strip the 'Fox and pull off the Bolt from the front of the Regulator. Use a pair of padded Channellocks to unscrew the brass Valve Tip and fish out the white urethane O-ring, and check it for grit or wear. Replace it to be safe, wiping a thin coating of silicone grease on the new O-ring before placing into the front of the Air Chamber. If you don't have a spare ask around the group for an Automag owner, their Piston O-ring looks to be the same, and Automags are notorious for eating them. Someone will probably have a spare. As above, use a fresh piece of plumbers tape on the threads of the Valve Tip before you screw it back in to keep it from coming loose.

These O-rings are under a lot of stress with the bolt moving in and out at a good clip, and they do wear out. A failure can also be caused by using unfiltered 'field air' or CO2, introducing debris into the regulator.

I had the same problem and solved it by stretching out the main spring a bit.

Seriously, I rebuilt the reg twice and it didn't change. Pulled out the spring, stretched it and bam, fixed it.

Alright, the spring fix seemed to work, but after a couple of minutes of shooting it started pooring air down the barrel again.

I have rebuilt the reg, stretched the spring, oiled and cleaned everything (I'm going to do it again here shortly).

Greg, oh wise ICD master, do you have any other suggestions? Or should I get the gun ready to mail to you guys?

It sounds like your main spring is warn out. ICD sells rebuild kits for foxes. Call ICD for prices.(208) 468-0446 The kit will also give you some new orings and reg seals. If that doesn't work then I would send it to ICD.

Same thing happens with my fox :bawling:
It'll shoot fine for a couple minutes then it starts sputtering and leaking air down the barrel. I take off the barrel, cock the bolt back with my finger and after a couple more shots same thing :( I checked out my reg internals and everything looks fine. All the orings are lubed and have a nice friction fit. I was actually thinking about stretching the spring like 5 minutes ago.. haha. Do you think that will help?
It seems to not leak when i turn up the pressure, but then it triple fires every other shot. Any words of wisdom greg? Do you think that its also a problem with the main spring?

Ok thanks a lot Greg. It looks like I'm sending my fox in anyway because I snapped the delrin bolt tip in half (don't ask). How should I proceed about sending it in? Should I call ICD first? And what if the problem is more than just the main spring? Thanks

Just send a note with your fox explaining what the problem is. They will take it from there.

hey ,guys still havent fix my fox yet. .As for the bolt tip ,those delrin tips like to break. So I decided to use something differant, but I couldnt find anything the right size. One day I was useing my mini mag flashlite and it hit me this looks like the perfect bolt tip size so I took it apart cut it down with a pipe cutter sanded the front part that hits the ball.I cut it so I had the theads of the flashlite .I know the threads arent the same but being alumminum it made its own theads when I screwed it on,oh yeah I put locktite on too.I know you guys think Im crazy ,but its worked great for about 6 mos now .I dont know if i would recommend you do this unless your ready to buy new parts incase you mess them up.I think I know part of the reason my gun blows air sometimes ,is because of another mod I made I took my sear out and ground some off where it catches the bolt ,then I did the same to the bolt, hey it worked great for awhile shortened my trigger pull too,but I guess it started to wear, and now i guess the sear doesnt always catch the piston. So ill be ordering new parts for my gun.thats 1 mod I shouldnt have done.Oh well it only money.Ive done other things too but I dont want to give you guys any ideas.I guess its best just to leave your gun stock unlees you dont mind buying new parts.I love my fox .later
