Hey guys, I'm really tryin to start playing paintball more often, and I need a few suggestions. Myself and a couple friends are looking for good fields to play near where we live. We live in the Perry Hall/White Marsh area (just northeast of Baltimore city). Where does everyone else play, and what days? Maybe I could come around and get a lil better from you master paintball players :p I just bought a gun and most of the equipment I need, just need a field and a few fellas to shoot at...

Hey there, I am living in White Marsh as well. There is a free field that some kids built in the State Park right at the 43/695 Junction. They usually play on Sat./Sun. It's invite only though I think.

You got Robin Hood up in Bel Air off Rt. 40. Then you have the Maryland Paintball fields in Chase (Woodsplay) and White Marsh (All speedball). MD Pball has okay fields. But they kinda got some attitude. I go there pretty frequently, but I bought a gun from some competitors a few weeks ago, and now I am not feeling very comfortable going back there.

The Maryland Diamond in the rough has got to be the Taneytown fields. It is about and hour drive from where you and I are. I have been there once, and I don't think I am ever going anywhere else (maybe Robin Hood once in awhile, or the free field.). That place rocks so hard it kinda hurts a little. I am trying to get a group to go this weekend, probably on Sunday. But I am a little broke, so I don't know how it will pan out. Taneytown is bring your own paint, and even if they weren't it would be fine since they sell marb cases for 60 bucks. it's 10 bucks to get in and that includes all day air. So it is well worth the drive.

Outdoor Adventures is located in Bowie. (it's a hike, but the really good fields) We play on Tuesday nights, and In the next two weeks or so, my team will scrimage on sundays. They have a good selection of woods fields, and 4 hyperball fields. 2 of those are lit up on tuesday nights.

I have heard really good things about the OA fields. I just hate going anywhere near 495 though. That is what has kept me from going. Maybe after I get my fill of Taneytown.

I like heading out to different fields in MD just to get around. Frederick has a few good paintball places.

If anyone's starting a team up in the area I'd like to come out and play, rec ball is fun but I'm starting to look at more competative venues.

L_Dogg, sorry I haven't out to OA tuesday nights yet, my hours at work are killing me this whole month. Next month though I've got no cases in trial so I'm looking good.

I usually play at the MD paintball fields on Sunday. There is some attitude but you get to play with some good players. I'd play at OA but I'd have to get up early to go down there.

OA has nice fields. they are off of Rt3 and Rt 50. Let us know if you decide to stop down....

A large group of people are heading to the Taneytown field tomorrow. If anyone goes, just look for the STO fade with the purple 12 inch equation on it. =)

This is all the information about the gun and like L Dogg's cocker, it too was just timed by Chris Cole.

I have recently moved to southern Maryland from northern Virginia. Are there any really good courses near here? I've heard good things about OA and ok things about Pev's. I live in Bethesda (10 minutes away from D.C.). If nothing is really good here, I'll just drive down to Virginia and play at poor old Hogback cause I know everyone there.

Just to let you know, I live in Kingsville. I just sold my Cocker, so I am getting a rainmaker till I get my next gun. Keep me in mind, I bet I could still wup you all with a brass eagle rainmaker.

P.S. I used to go to J.C. paintball shop but Maryland Paintball gives better service, and that my fellow paintballer is what it is all about.

How many fields does OA have? Is it expensive, but you can def. byop? Can anyone describe how the fields look?

im starting a team and already have 3 people. need one or 2 more for a 5 man team. I really want 6 so we can play 5 man and have a backup and in 3 man tourneys we can run 2 teams. I live on easternshore but drive over the bay bridge to play at oa and stuff. If you are interested and serious, we would like to have you try out. Just so you know, we are a serious but fun team. Our goal is to make it pro, so lazzieness and missing alot of practices is unacceptable. We have a good trainer and some Amature teams we will play and practice with. NO stock class, piss gun players. Im not turning someone down if they have a spyder or piranta, just we are serious and most likely seriosus players have top level guns. I currentley shoot a B2k with Ti boomer ande stuff and a shocker. My crew shoots a impulse, and cockers. We are electro team with cockers. I'm currently looking into warehouse space in Baltimore (since there is so much vacant space) and opening an indoor facility. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts, email or PM me. I'm putting together some cost figures, not trying to compete with the outdoor fields, but with the MD weather, I think we're lacking some indoor facilties. If anyone knows of or some startup $#'s, I'd appreciate it.

I've found cheap warehouse space in the Canton area (right off I95 near the tunnels) that allow build out's for paintball. Right near the Canton skatepark would be ideal. Any thoughts?

well I'm trying to get an idea of startup costs and what not, this kinda venture doesn't just materialize out of the blue. And unless I cash in my retirement plan and most of my assets, I'm going to need help going into this. I've never run a paintball place before and I'm getting an idea of how places operate now at OA. Also got a realtor to look at warehouse space. Would be ideal to buy but leasing might be the only option right now. I'll definitely keep you MD players that browse these forums in the know. I think an indoor place would be perfect for our area. If anyone has any ideas (floor surface material, arena obstacles, etc..) let me know. I have an idea of how much and how many supplies are needed, also got plenty of interest from refs about working.. just need the startup $ =)

floor surface- astro turf :love:
obstacles- any old pieces of junk laying around, or pieces of pipe like in most outdoor fields.
Might cost alot to get something like this up and going, but it will definatley pay off in the long run, considering i'll be your top paying customer!!:)

IF...and a big IF this does somehow manage to make it to reality, it WILL, and a big WILL, be done right and I will personally try and host some of the nation's top tourney's here. I'm going to city hall today to check out zoning and current law's regarding places like this, also applying for a government funded grant for bringing recreation related revenue to Baltimore city.

I would like to also get an idea on how much people in MD, specifically close to baltimore, spend on avg for paintball. I know what I spend and it makes my mind spin sometimes. I really need to get an idea of weekly revenue targets and target customer base. Pease, if you feel comfortable, PM me some basic info (where general area you live, no street addresses please, age, yrs playing paintball, equipments specs, average you spend on paint, gear, field fees).. would definitely help.

not lately. we just had a little one, and he has consummed most of my time. My buddy has team practice on sunday and some times ref's on saturday. He plays for Bad Habit. Both of us will be out there on tuesday or friday...
