I'd suggest getting him a Spyder Compact 2000. That's the gun that my little brother ( 12 yrs ) has. He really doesn't play too much in games but just enjoys shooting crap around the yard. It's a very good gun for a beginner, and very reasonably priced too. You can get one for about 80-90 I think.
