Heres my problem, i have an xchamber, r/t and full boar shadow, When i fire my gun with the barrel off, it works perfectly and the ball flies as far as it should w/ no barrel. When i put it on the ball doesnt even make it down the barrel and the gun doesnt recock, whats the problem, the barrel o-ring?

what barrel do you have? A friend of mine had the same problem and the bolt was getting stuck inside the barrel...really strange.

Sounds like somethings going wrong with the barrel on causing it not to have enough pressure to fire a ball. Sorry, i know there stupid, but some people do forget to check these:

1. Tank have enough air to operate your marker?
2. Whats the velocity set on? is your velocity adjuster still in the gun?
3. is the air leaking out some other place when you pull the trigger? (such places include the elbow, or a big crack where the body halves go together)

Check theses and if u still dont fix it, ill see what else I can think of

ahhh, i think its some sort of pmi pursuit barrel, yes it must be old school because i cant find it anywhere, and yes the velocity is fine because when the barrel is off my fingers get blown back when i fire.... I guess it could be the barrel but it was working fine before i converted my m98 to 98c...

Mabey the paint is to big for that barrel

no, it wouldnt slow it down that much if the paint was too big

You have the Conversion kit? call Tippmann, I remember something about them having defects in some of the conversion kits

i would honestly drive to mr. tippmanns house and kill him if there was a "defect". But i think RA was right when i screw my barrel in i cant cock the gun, it catches on something... crap. Oh well i have to wait till monday to phone tippmann. Anyone know why US gets friday off?

how did your friend fix the problem -=Ra=-?

-=RA=-

He sanded down the inside of the barrel where the bolt would get caught. He did it very carefully though and it took an hour or two. Just had to make sure that there was nothing sharp or rough on the inside of the barrel. It worked for him..so if you think that the bolt is getting caught on the inside of the barrel, then you could try that.

However, I think you should try everything else to fix it before you try to sand down the inside of the barrel.

I think the reciever that tippmann gave me was some low quality upgrade because it doesnt even have a serial number on it.

But anyway RA how can you tell what part of the barrel is getting caught?

-=RA=-

It's not that the barrel is geting caught, it sounds like the bolt is getting wedged into the barrel. Some barrels are just made a little too narrow at the part where it screws into the reciever.

The bolt is probably being wedged into the back of the barrel, the part that is closest to the bolt.

Have you tried shooting it with the stock barrel? If it's a problem with your aftermarket barrel, then the stock should work fine. However, if the problem is with the gun, then neither barrel will work. If that is the case, call up Tippmann and tell them of the problem. Send them your gun and they should fix it free of charge.

Hopefully all that helps.

I have no clue where my stock barrel is (i moved) so i guess ill just phone up tippmann and see what they say. I really dont want to ship it though because by the time it reaches me in Canada the shipping really adds up.

-=RA=-

True on the shipping...sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe you'll only have to pay to have it shipped down there...Tippmann payed to have mine shipped back to me when I had work done. And I live in Maine...so I'm practically in Canada.

That's too bad man. Tippmann makes some great products, but I can see why you're willing to ditch them. You might still want to ask Tippmann to pay for some of the shipping charges. If you told Tippmann that it is a problem with the factory upgrade to C-98 w/RT, they will probably do everything for free because it should be under warranty. But for $100 US? I don't know if I'd be willing to do that. You could get a new barrel and a new bolt (TASO Starfire) for less than that...just not sure what the eventual S/H would be.

Anyways, good luck with your repairs (Tippmann usually does a good job on it) and hopefully you can find some way to get that shipping cost down.

Nah probably wont ditch em completely. Just angry because my bleeding fingers... and the SHIPPING! When i type things they come out wrong, damn the expressionless, faceless, cold nature of the internet.

well stupid me, it turns out it was the barrel. I dont hate tippmann anymore. Now i hate pmi... (unless they replace my barrel)

-=RA=-
07-14-2002, 02:36 PM
Well, I guess you'll just have to get a new one. Or try the sanding thing on the first inch of the barrel.

I emailed PMI they tell me to phone them so I will tommorow. If they dont replace it I'll probably sand it or get a stock of someone in these forums.
