hey i just bought a RAT pulse off the internet. when i tried to gas it up it leaked from behind the macroline fitting. I tried using tons of teflon but it still leaked. I got it to where you can only hear the leak if you put your ear next to it but it is still there. I decided that id go try it out after i fixed so i gassed it up expecting it to work just fine. well the gun would fire 1 sometimes 2 or 3 good shots then it would just sorta fart out air. enough to recock it and everything but it def would not shoot a ball if i put them in there. then after those 1-3 shots the bottom cap of the maxflow would start leaking air like crazy. any suggestions? please help!

umm..it could be your macroline? but that is the only thing i can think of...well maybe it could be your reg leaking but i highly dought that.

Way to use teflon on ur impulse. A lot of teflon at that. Macroline fittings come with sealing stuff already on them and if it does happen to leak on an impulse just loctite it. Make sure your macro line is curved. A straight piece of macroline will not seal on the fittings. And read the owner manual before you kill your impulse.

ok so you think if i loctite it - it will fix both leaking problems?

FamousAmosCS

The loctite is a start. After that leaks if the problem is still there, something else is wrong.

After that leak's sealed that is.

It's probably not your threads on the fitting that are leaking, it's probably the part where the hose goes in.

Take a q-tip and clean the inside really good, then add 3-4 drops of oil on another q tip and put that inside the fitting, and move it all around. (There's an oring inside the fitting, what you are doing is oiling that oring to make a better seal on the hose). Also make sure your hose is cut straight. Sometimes fittings just leak, you might wanna try a new one.

What kind of tank are you using? Was it full in your testing? What pressure are you running at? What velocity is your gun shooting at? It sounds like your max flow needs a rebuild, or just a good clean/regreasing. Look in your manual, it tells you how to do this. If you didnt get a manual www.smartparts.com has downloadable ones.

macroline... Is that the black hose thing? Because I think I have that on my Spyder shutter. And I took the hose off one day and the hose came off the fitting. Then I just stuck it back in there and it had a slow leak. I took it off again stuck it back in and twisted it and put it back on and it didn’t leak. Then about a month later it started leaking again and now it won’t stop. Should I take the black hose off the Fitting and clean it out like The Legend said. Or is it broke for life? HELP!!!!!!!

For the teflon to work correctly you have to take the macroline fitting out , wrap it around the threads and then screw it back in .. I'm just saying this because I saw some retard once trying to do it that way... umm try checking your dwell on your impulse? anyhow good luck..

ScorpionShutt
07-07-2002, 07:40 PM
jordy, that happened with my shutter (it's not macro it's micro), just keep screwing it in and out, and pushing the fitting in, while you screw the tank in, that line is a *****, i was so glad once i got rid of it.

dude like the guy said above man, read the manual. NEVER!!!! use teflon on a impulse!!!!!

starboarder2001
07-07-2002, 08:04 PM
acualy it is macro....not micro. there is such thing as microline but the impulse doesnt come with it.

never us teflon on a impulse!! it will clog your solinoid....:bawling:

also i think there is a killer in my house...be back in a sec.

yup im pretty sure the black tube is macro dude. I have heard that the steel wrapped tubes or whatever are better than macro? I dont see a difference in pefformance between the two.

starboarder2001

uhh macro is more flexable and is easily replaced withough removing the fittings.

viperisi5
07-07-2002, 08:21 PM
yup, thats why I like it better than that steel stuff.

legend im pretty sure it is coming from behind - especially since the leak slowed alot when i put teflon on the fitting. im using a smart parts maxflow old style (98 - rehydro'd this year) that is outputting around 500psi into the vert reg. the vert reg is putting around 120-160 psi into the gun. i had the tank at about 2000psi and i didnt chrono it becuz it wont shoot the way it is. like i said the first 1-3 shots will fire fine but then it just sorta craps out. help?

the leak slowed after you put in teflon in ehhh??? :bawling: I am taking bets on how fast you can kill that impulse doing stuff like that man. rtfm!!

I bet a penny that it lasts no more than a year.

either buy a new fitting or if its still leeking you may have to buy new ASA if teflon on the fitting doesnt work

bright idea, take it to a certified smart parts tech because obioulsy some people dont listen. If you would read the manual you would understand, but you would rather disrespect your gun. DONT USE TEFLON ON YOUR IMPULSE!!

it also says to have teflon ready when you work on your max flo tank

I dont know why tho

viper - I didnt add any more teflon since i first tried it. you are thinking that I added more since Ive asked for help and I havent. The teflon on there now is from when I first got the gun. I bought the gun off of pbnation so it didnt have a manual, ive never owned an imp before. im sorry for "being retarded" i just didnt know. i am going to a hardware store to get some pipetite or loctite to seal it up, but even still this doesnt fix the problem of leaking from the bottom cap?!

The Legend

I told you to rebuild your max flow. It's probably just a dry/cut/damaged oring inside there somewhere. It could use some cleaning.

paintballtmim
07-08-2002, 09:24 AM
lol legend - ok i will try that - it just cracks me up you tell me to do that like it is just as easy as screwing in a barrel. hehe not all of us are impulse geniuses :D i guess i will just start unscrewing stuff and hope i can remember where it goes hehe. if that doesnt fix it though do you know anything else that could cause something like that?

I really don't think the fitting could be leaking enough air to do that....you can dl the imp manual from out forum's faq by wolverine.

You may have a problem and created another problem trying to fix the first.

First, mix a very little soap in a small bit of warm water. now "drip" some of that on your fittings and line. when you gas up, you will see little bubbles from the air leak-- this way you are not gussing about where its leaking!

Win loose or draw- take off the fitting that you put the teflon tape on. clean the inside of the reg very carefully to remove ALL the little "teflon threads". I would simply get a NEW macro fitting (why screw with it for the price of a $5 fitting) but if you don't, clean the threads very well and apply some loctite. WHen you reinstall the fitting, only screw it in snug-- DON'T OVERTIGHTEN IT. A problem we see all the time is foke over tighting the fittings and pushing the fitting into the reg piston-- this causes the piston to stick and you will often get the shootdown you discribed. When you put the hose back in (if you don't have new hose to replace it with) take a SHARP cutter (like a box cutter or very sharp knife-don't use wire cutters) and cut off about 1/4" of the hose before reinstalling it (this will get rid of the little grove that the fitting leaves in the hose)

If you still can't get it fixed, you can send to us and we will fix it and check over the rest of the gun for you. It will cost you shipping in both directions, but there would be no charge for the service.

thanx guys for helping me out - all it really was is using loctite and backing out that fitting a little bit. I also had to turn the pressure up it was about 100psi. The imp then proceeded to shoot so dam fast that I created a paintball milkshake. I know your all gonna laf at me but dont try using a 12v revvy w/o xboard on a nonvision RAT. It doesnt work :| All i had was the 12v revvy that I use on my cocker and i had to try it out once it was working. Ive never seen so much orange mist in my life. heheh while im here any suggestions on which loader to get? oh and FOM do you guys install vision on imps? I mean i know you make vision RATs but do you do it to guns already sold?

Thanx again to everyone who helped, especially viper, legend and FOM!!!!

no prob, from what I hear you dont need vision if you have a fast enough hopper. I however will probably end up getting it when I am done with everything else I want to do to it. (when you get vision it ups your bps capabilities to about 19.5 bps!!!). I use a warped sports black market revy. I like it, it does what I need. I hear that the halo b is awsome! (Is it belt driven, I heard that it is belt driven?!?!?) I personally dont think that you need the like 16 bps a halo will provide, but if you want a hopper you cant out- shoot Id say the halo. If you want something that does the job, 12v revy x-board, with perhaps jmj vortex impeelars is the way to go.

The Legend
07-09-2002, 02:05 PM
I've chopped with a halo before.

And yes, the new version is belt driven instead of gear driven. That's what "B" stands for in Halo B. (I'm sure it also means the second version of the loader, crafty, those texans).

monkeybacon00
07-09-2002, 02:27 PM
I have a 12 vlt without an xboard and a nonvision RAT.
I have a decently fast trigger finger.
I have yet to chop a ball.

wierd huh? :D

viperisi5
07-09-2002, 02:45 PM
see, get a fast hopper and you have no need to get vision. We all know that legend was high as a kite on speed when he chopped with the halo and a impulse, no other way he could get his fingers going that fast naturally.

The Legend
07-09-2002, 06:22 PM
I've got a halo to chop on my imp and my matrix. I feel like such a dirty, dirty person for forcing my un-ball-breakable guns to break paint. A sad day indeed...:(

And yes, it did chop. Don't tell me it's not possible. Halo's are fast, but they arent superhuman. Those vids you see of 18-22 bps is cool, however I've yet to see one in real life feed that fast. The matrix was set at 16 bps, and I was walking the trigger. The Imp was set to approx 19, and I was walking the trigger. Chop chop chop.

viperisi5
07-09-2002, 06:26 PM
maybe it seems unreal to me because the halo feeds at what 16? and personally ive never seen someone shoot over 13 or 14. Either way, you dont need vision in my opinion, although its a nice thing to have.

starboarder2001
07-09-2002, 06:27 PM
are u shure it was a halo b?

The Legend
07-09-2002, 06:31 PM
The imp chopped with a regular halo, the matrix had a halo b on it.

Even though my matrix is set 3 bps lower than the imp was, I shoot MUCH faster on the matrix than the imp. I can hit 16 on my matrix when walking the trigger, I can feel the board kicking in and slowing it down. I'm guessing I was shooting 13-14bps on the imp, and 16 on the matrix.

Either way, the B is supposed to feed 22 without chopping. Ha.

07-09-2002, 06:59 PM
I heard 20.8 bps halo b.
