I know of a few places around wisconsin/illinois border. Just drive up 1-94. there is a place there, Action Territory. You also might have more luck in the Mid West forum in here.

I'm in Chicago on the Northwest side. My primary field is Badlandz in Crete, a 60 mile drive for me. All things considered, it's probably the best field. $25 field fee, BYOP or buy theirs (reasonable prices), and you get a lot of games in. They have a number of different wooded fields and because the NPPL/PSP Chicago Open is played there, they also have a number of speedball/hyperball fields. Safety is sometimes a concern, as players will routinely remove their goggles when in the dead box and the refs rarely comment, but the players are pretty good at policing themselves.

Challenge Park is about 50 miles away, but their paint prices and quality are horrible and I've yet to go for a day and play more than five games. The field selection is nice, like the town, but your overall experience there is usually pretty bad. The only reason I'll be playing there this year is for the Shatner game in August.

I have played at Paintball Blitz in Gurnee, about 25-30 miles north of the city. Paint is expensive but they have a number of fields and once again, you get to play a lot of games. I haven't played there since 2000, so I'm not sure if anything has changed. While I was there, it was the only field that allowed firing modes other than semi.
