ok i know you probably heard this before but i HEARD that you have to break the viking in before you can lower it's operationg pressure now what i want to know is if it is low enuf not to break paint out of the box or do i have to break it in and then lower it so it don't and if i do how many cases do i have to shoot people up with i will think of more questions later but can you please give some insight and please no spamming or flamming at me or anyone else

yes you have to break in the viking and excal
the stock lpr pressure is the same as a bushmaster, angel, most cockers etc.
to go down to the pinching range you need to shoot 10+ cases
that doesent have to be actual paint, you can put the bolt in backwards and dry fire your brains out
then to lower your LPR,get the tool kit,or go to a AKA booth at a event and have it done propperly,to high and you will blow your solinoid,to low and youll have all sorts of problems

and yeah, without lowering the lpr, and without a fast enough hopper u WILL chop. I have a lowrise (which doesn't help) and I could not do large strings without chopping. I tried numerous hoppers, and it still chops on strings. I'm forced to keep to bursts, which is OK. At least until my tool kit gets here, hopefully next week, but theres no guarantee...
I have put about 3 real cases thru the gun and roughly 7-8 more with dry firing, so it SHOULD be broken in by now... theoretically.

we havent had any chopping problems, with the stock low rise and lpr setting, use a WAS turbo board and vortex impellar, can rip
hopper dumping strings without a flinch
break in can take longer than 10 cases

well it didn't take much longer then that for me. I got Shaun from Total Eclipse (sponsored by AKA) to lower my lpr for me today (down to 60 psi), and thru the entire day I broke ONE ball.
Let me tell u it was sweet relief to be able to do that. I even heard it pinch a ball once or twice, but hardly at all.

what are you actually breaking in?
thanks

Uhh, not exactly sure. The LPR parts? The hammer cartridge? Something like that. Breaking it in will lessen the friction on whichever internals it is, then it is possible for the parts to move at lower pressures.
at least that seems to make sense to me.

Hah, ok......
I geuss that is a good enough anwser...
anyone have anything else to add.
sometimes you need to work the reg in... you need to work the sidewinder in at all?
that's what comes on them right?
Thanks

Would it be ok, theoretically, if I took the gun out of the box, put a drop and a tuff skin on it and played some recball to help break it in? Or is it a no no playing with it before you screw with the lpr?

No, man, you can lay with it. I used mine in a tourney. But what will happen is that if you get going to fast and a ball drops wrong you get a chop instead of the pinch, which the lower lpr facilitates. But yeah you should be fine using it in your rec games.

Ok. The rec ball we have here is renters with old Tippmanns. They get used to the 3-4 balls a second. Then they panic when they hear someone ripping close to 10 or so.
