The tippman 98 custom with flatline barrel rear cockin bolt electric frame.
Or the kewl shocker 4x4 with aa's 16 inch barrel.
What is the best?
What are the good and bads for these guns?

just get the shocker.
Yep.
M98
good:
durable
short trigger
bad:
hard to field strip
blowback (maybe not bad but a disadvantage over a shocker)
long
heavy
loud
Shocker
good:
electro
quiet
scary :)
light trigger
closed bolt
comes with a maxflo reg.
fast
bad:
big
heavy
long stock barrel (but it's good)

Yes, for sure the shocker. M98s are nice low end guns, however a shocker will come with a nice barrel and great reg stock.

~shocker~!!!!!!!
I have a 98 and have palyed with a shocker and I would say get the shocker. The 98 is a good quality gun and very reliable but it is slow. The Flatline is good but the problem is you can not really speed shoot with it. The Shocker can get almost the same range and you can send as much paint at a target as fast as you can fire.
Also, the Flatline loses velosity at the end of of the range. A long range paintball will only bounce off a target. The shocker keeps the same velosity throughout the flight and probablly alittle faster sinse the there is an arch in the ball.

The two markers you are comparing are pretty different.
m98
pro: w/flatline = long range
electronic trigger = fast shooting
easy/cheap to maintain
lots of aftermarket/repair parts
con:very long
shocker:
pro: fast = electronic
con: hard to maintain
not many aftermarket parts
hard to repair.
These are 2 very different markers. I think your choice between the two would be determined by price. Everthing else is kinda equal. By putting a electronic trigger on the m98 you are upgrading it to the level of the shocker. The m98 is much easier to take care of. So that also give it an advantage. But with the flatline, it makes it very bulky. So try it out and you decide.

If you put an electro kit and a vigi + nitro maybe it would be on par with the shocker. But the flatline barrel just sucks, accuracy is bad compared to a normal barrel, and you just can't play speedball with it.

Yeah, the Tippman factory team I saw had some pretty tricked out setups. Still, better off with a shocker

tippmanns are THE newbie gun, shockers are higher end guns.

HAHAHA your joking right Shoker all the way. oh and in a post above i saw a misinformed statement about the shockers. Someone said they are hard to take care of and that is not true at all, just keep it greased up and it will work like a miracle.
