ok, the question is what is better for say a new Spyder Compact 2000. I know that Expansion chambers expand the liquid CO2 into air and the regulator keeps the flow constant. Which one improves the overall effectiveness of the gun, the regulator or the expansion chamber??

If it's a choice between the 2 get a regulator then buy an anti siphon tube. A reg. will do much more for consistancy then an expansion chamber.

Get a regulator!!!!! A reg will improve your accuracy and will be much better than a x-chamber to keep liquid co2 out of the gun. The palmer stabilisator is the best with co2, a bit expensive but worth every penny. If you want a cheaper reg, there is also WGP regualtors. Not as good as palmer stab... For compressed air, the best is AA Vigilante.

Basically my question comes down to how these two differ in thier function and the way they do it. Does the chamber give ou ore shots than the regualtor but less in consistency. I am still pretty much a newbie and will want to upgrade my Spyder 2000 compact. This is the next purchuse on my list, but i dont know which way to go. I have found out that regualtors are about $20 bucks more than a chamber. Basically, i am just confused.

Before you even buy a new regulator, u should buy an aftermarket barrel, cause that is ur most imporntant upgrade on your gun I have been going through the same question about buying an expansion chmaber, and form what ive heard, getting an antisiphon tube and a regulator is definetly better then getting an expansion chmaber, thats what i plan on doing. But, i would recomend taking of the original regulator on ur gun that already have, and just getting a standard bottem line adapter, casue i dont know if u can add a second regulator onto your gun, not because its a aecon re, but because of the distnace. Before i deiced to put on a reglator, i bought an expansion chamber for my shutter, and i couldnt make it work because u need to buy these metric to snatdar adaptors in order to runb a hose form one reg to the other. So if u want to buy and aftermarket reg or expansion for urgun, no mater what u buy, ur going to need a standard bottemline adaptor instead of the crappy reg they give u
