I was in the backyard firing my marker after oiling it, and I noticed something. In an open area, with few obstructions, my marker was really loud, I never noticed this before and I can only imagine what it?s like when I have it pressed up against my mask.
So a few questions, has anyone ever taken a decibel reading from their marker? Does anyone wear hearing protection, and if so what kind?
BTW, my marker is a Piranha.

well, one of my friends owns a piranha, and he shot it one time and it sounded like a 20 gauge. if u were dry firing it, it's gonna be loud anyways. i don't think anyone here wears hearing protection cuz we don't really need it. heck, i don't use ear plugs when i shoot skeet! if someone sees you with it, they'll think ur a moron.

You must have one noisy gun if you need ear plugs. I would bet you a penny that nobody here uses ear plugs. Just get a quieter barrel, or stop dry firing.

lol:laugh:
dude, you don't need hearing protection, your gun must be pretty messed up if you think you need earplugs.
You wan't loud? Try standing right next to a 25 millimeter cannon when its being fired, thats loud. Or try standing on the deck of a ship when a sea whiz is ripping, now thats loud.

Take towel.
Put towel over end of barrel.
Dry fire till fingers fall off. Both hands. :P
Is that so tough? :|

When I assemble/clean up field markers I just put my hand over the barrel(after checking for paint in the chamber). The sound isn't dangerous but it does get annoying after the 20th marker or so.
