Do i need this screw for the gun to work, or will the paintballs just sputter out? I was adjusting the velocit on my M98c and lost the screw in the grass. Are they expensive? Thanks!

Just e-mail Tippmann they'll probably send one free, or you might have to pay a buck or 2 for shipping

and to answer the question of importance... it what regulates how fast the paintballs go... so with out that, depending on tank etc. etc. etc. you can shoot like 350+ easy... and that does hurt a lot

dang, i hope it don't chop my paint, my friends are gonna feel it tommorow. If its to fast i probably won't play.

I just found it funny that he would actually consider shooting at 350+ fps.

Gollum: you quoted the wrong person. You were laughing at someone who wrote that it's dangerous to play at speeds that fast.
You should have quoted the guy who was considering playing at those speeds.

You should have quoted the guy who was considering playing at those speeds. Sorry, I quoted the right guy but the meaning was kind of hard to understand. Me laughing was my way of agreeing with the guy who I originally quoted. I just found it funny that the guy who started the thread was considering using his gun at 350 fps. Sorry if I ticked anyone off.

Guys i was just asking a question, i never said i was gonna play, i'm very new to the sport and don't know much about stuff :| I would never think of playing with my friends when the paintballs are going that fast. No need to flame me.

ummm guys, I don't know if this is true for the m98, but on the pro-carbine losing the screw slows you down. what happens is some of the co2 is let out thru the hole, thus slowing it. once again this may not be true for the m98.

For the -98, it's the opposite of what you said. I don't want to explain it all out...just know that if you screw velocity screw in, speed goes down; if you screw it out, velocity goes up.

Did you try shooting it without the screw, I'm curious if you noticed the speed.

I tried shooting without the VA, it way to fast. It sounds painfull when i hit trees.

get a velocity screw now. It takes less force than you think to shatter someones windpipe. Ya paintball may not wiegh that much, but when they are traveling at 350+fps, the force on impact will be exponetial.

I do have my velocity adjuster back, and no i wasn't gonna go play people when it was shooting that fast, that would be stupid.

it i found without the screw it droped in performance, plus when i first got my gun i took it all the way out(when i was a newbie) and it broke the gun, apperently its not good for the gun, along with the people getting hit by it
