The only real difference between the 98c and m98 besides the gills is the milling that is done internally to accomodate drop-in kits from Tippmann, Psycho Ballistics, etc. They'll perform the same.

They don't make the M98 anymore. The 98 Custom will be $120-$130 online. By the way, in answer to your other question, yes, you can mill out your gills safely, as long as you make sure the internals are smooth afterwards. No real benefit besides slight blowback reduction, but it will make your gun LOUD.

People, there is a great difference between the 98 and the custom. The custom is far more exsessable. You can get more upgrades for it. If you are looking for the least expensive prise, go to 888paintball.com If you don't like the price they give u, 2 bad. Don't try cheating tippmann by trying to find one of their guns for supper cheap.

I seem to hear an echo...

And by the way, it's our right as consumers to find the lowest prices as possible for the things we buy. You don't like it, get over it.

First off, the differences between the two guns have already been stated in this thread, so calm down. You should read every post carefully and thoroughly so you can understand what is said. Paintballer X, in his first post, stated that they are basically the same, besides the gills and the milling inside it.

And where do you get this cheating Tippmann thing? All companies buy the product at wholesale from Tippmann...so if one site sells it for "super cheap", it just means that that site makes less of a profit off your purchase. It's not cheating Tippmann to buy your gun for less...it's getting the best deal for your money.

edit:  PaintballerX got to it 4 minutes before I did...oh well, read my post too

Get with the new school, go with the 98 custom! even if you had 200$ to spend on a M98 because its cheaper, there is FAR more upgrades available for the 98 custom. here are the main differences between the 2:

M98C:
-No Gills ( logo takes up more room)
-Inside of body milled ( this is the main advantage over the M98, because you can drop in the RT,Electro kits, etc..)
-Trigger spring moved ( actually DOES make the trigger pull feel lighter)
-Hella easier to upgrade ( all upgrades can take you about 10 mins (more or less) to install)

M98:
-Gills ( no purpose what so ever but for look, milling the gills is also just for look, no real performance boost)
-Inside of body not milled (cant even take half the stuff the 98 custom can)
-Hella hard to upgrade ( to install some of the stuff on the M98 u need saws, drills, a dreml, etc....)

Also: If you want to buy one new, check out the Paintball Armory ( http://shop.paintballarmory.com/ ) it is 149$, but its worth it for the free OVER NIGHT shipping ;) (wich is usually 20-30+$ more everywhere else depending on what you buy)

Go with the 98 not the custom...I mean for 85 bux! And there is nothing you can put in a 98c that you cant put in a 98! Tippmann will install anything you want for free!!!! If you want a RT, you buy an RT from them for $100 and mail it all into them and they will mill the inside of your gun for you! Plus the 98 looks much better...Nobody can say that they like the 98c's looks better than the 98! Face it the words in place of the gills are ugly! Plus I would not mill the gills! Would you want to cut a big hole in the hood of your car to let tons of dirt in? How bout cut slits in your watch? SO why would you do it to your paintball gun? It will just cause more problems than it is worth! DONT DO IT!

but its alot easier to just drop it in yourself rather than mailing it to tippmann and wating 4-10 days to get it back. Anyways half the time all they do is just replace te reciver halves ( thats what they did to the M98 i sold atleast) omg thats soooo hard!
