I just bought an 88ci tank and now i need a drop forward at least 3inches or bigger. If anyone can give me a name of a drop forward that would be great.

Nothing bigger then a Shocktech, any bigger and you'll pay in accuracy and hopper hits.

what do u mean by that richie? cause all a drop or cradle does is brign the tank forward and down to make everything more compact...? i have a shocktech long drop right now and its not gonna be long enough for a 68/4500 nitro tank that i am soon to get, that is why im gettin a drop zone II. How would a longer drop make me get hit in the hopper more?

That guy isn't using a DF...his tank fits over his arm when he shoots tight. If you have a large drop forward that goes really far down and forward when you go to put the tank over your arm it moves your gun up and since the tank is so close to the gun now your cramping the gun against your face.
It just depends on how long your arms are and your comfort. You want only as much drop as you NEED. How much you NEED to shoot comfortably is personal pref. Get a drop if you need one.

in that pic it looks like he has the KAPP stubby drop... I guess it's just me tho...
I just went to my local shop, and bought the NW short spoon, cuz the long is too big for me.
The big spoon is about 2" or so down and 6 or 7" forward. The long spoon put my 68 stubby right under my gun. Which was nice, it balanced perfectly, but i couldn't get it into my elbow... and it was $50, so I bought the little one. it was only $20

Cuz they make your gun taller, which exposes more of your hopper.
EDIT: Oppsies that made no sense:crazy:

Right, most make your setup atleast 2 inches taller, atleast, some, like the DZII make it 4 inches taller. So really, while your setup may be short, it isn't tight at all, it's very tall. Not to mention you loose stability the further your tank is away. I play front with a 68 and 14 inch barrel, no problems. The pros do it with 16 inch barrels, not saying replicate the pros, but just don't beleive what the manufacturers tell you, remeber, they are selling a peice of metal that took 3 dollars to make, for $30, of course they are goin to promote it.

Yea but they look REALLY cool.
I dont' see how a DF makes your gun taller tho. I mean...I use a PB DF on my m98c and I hold it the same as always. The back of the gun is level with my head. The DF had no effect on the level of my gun...so if my gun is held at the same height...my hopper is the same height as well. If anything it's just too close and off balance...nothing to do with height.
I mean...are you saying if I hold my gun in front of my mask, then add a DF i would hold my gun UP more? Why? That makes no sense....a DF has no effect on height....only balance.

you all probably THINK you need a d/f because you hold your gun wrong. You probably hold your gun perpendicular to your body. you should be holding it parallel. This puts you in a very compact position. I made this pic in Paint. It sucks, I know. There's no arms or anything but it shows you how you should be holding your gun. And yes I do use a drop forward but only because with it I can offset my tank to the left and make it more comfortable to hold.
if you lean outta bunker like that your exposing a lot

if you lean out like that all that's exposed is your gun and your goggles. If you lean out the wrong way then your shoulder sticks out a lot. I'll make more crappy pics to demonstrate my point.

here. I drew a line back so you can all see which is more exposed.

why does everyone think big drop forwards are better? The reason drop forwards were first made was to provide better balance. With better balance it's easier to hold your gun steady which helps you shoot more accuratly. Unless you have an 88ci or bigger tank there's no real reson for a drop forward.

not neccesarily true. On my cocker, with my 68 stubby right under my grip, the balance was horrible, and I couldn't put it into to my shoulder for snap shooting. With my new little d/f, it fits right into my elbow, so I can make myself smaller/tighter when snap shooting. a HUGE d/f with a small tank CAN be a mistake tho. Like I said earlier, the big spoon put the tank RIGHT under my gun, with this, the gun is perfectly balanced, but it dosen't fit into my elbow , and it makes me hold the gun TOO close, effecting accurracy.

I meant there was no reason for a BIG drop forward. I have a 68ci tank with a kapp stubby drop forward offset to the left. Makes for a well balanced, very comfortable set-up.

stop arguing over something that is completly opinion. I personally like short barrels and big drops. some people like the opposite and some dont care. maybe a smaller drop will have good balance and is shorter. but maybe the big drop forward fans like me dont like the fat tank it their shoulder. have you guys forgotten that your personal style of play is a major thing in paintball?

Then you aren't shouldering the tank, it's on your bicep, and that will definatly kill your accuracy because of no stability. Look at drops, they have height, if you shoulder like you should for the best accuracy, that height gets added to your gun. A setup with a MaxFlow right on the grip frame is not as tall as a setup with a Max Flow with a drop, it's pretty simple, I don't see whats so hard to understand. Not to mention big drops give you gun almost no balance, so you loose more accuracy there. Trust my, I've owned more then enough drops to know. I started on a ProLine, then I went to a DZII because I thought I need to play "tighter", then I had to sell that, and all I could afford was a Shocktech Long, so I used that, it felt better, I got a new gun, so I put on a Shocktech medium, better yet. And now I only play with the Shocktech Shorty and an On/Off. Best accuracy I've ever had. I play front with a 14 inch barrel, I can still play tight, if you can't play tight with a setup like that, you are either 4'8, or you suck.

I agree. I also forgot to mention that drops expose more of your elbow as well. Since your arms are closer to your body, your elbow is out more, and making you a bigger target to the opposing team. So which would you really want? A wider side profile, or a wider target area???

i play with a shocktech long and 12 inch barrel with a 68 ci tank on my bushy. i like the long drop because it balances well and puts the tank right where i want it, its not about playing tight as much as it is comfort for me

Ahh, good point, one I normally bring up, thanks.

I guess it all depends on the shooter then. I can shoot with or w/o a drop on some guns...it makes no difference.
There is no 1 way to correctly hold your gun....mark drop forwards down next to "personal pref" next to markers.

Well I can lock the tank against my chest or on my arm...i can shoot equally well either way...so having a drop doesnt always matter....i only have trouble with tanks that a angled down...i can't hold them
