why is it that other extreme sports like skateboardiing and trick bikes and stuff are in the X games and are shown on TV but paintball, the fastest growing extreme sport is not. Please clarify as I am confused :(

lets all flood ESPN with e-mails requesting paintball in the x-games

combine it with the other sports and make the bmxers and such outrun the paint :D
It would be cool tho.

that would be an awesome promotional event. Get like Dave Youngblood to shoot a Dye Custom Cocker from a helicopter at Tony Hawk fleeing for his life on a street course

i dunno paintball is more of a participation sport than a spectator sport...another thing is (and i'm sure i will hear about it if i am wrong)i'm pretty sure that all x-games sports are 1 person while paintball is team sport but it would be cool for paintball to get some extra exposure!

Once we figure out how to get good coverage of it, im sure it won't be hard to get on the Games. But until then, there's no chance!

I would love to have paintball on the X-Games but it would be hard to catch the "essence" of the game. like bombs over bagdhad, it's more of a participation sport that spectator. And the events currently on the X-Games are easy to film, just follow the rider on the track/ramp. Paintball would be a little tougher to do, you can't just follow one guy. But still, paintball would rock.

i used to watch paintball all the time back when they would broadcast it on ESPN. they seemed to capture the ESSENCE of the game quite nicely. They would have one overhead shot most of the time then every once in a while they would zoom in to somebody shoooting like a mad man then they would show someone with a big gob of paint on his face. Great entertainment.

The reason why paintball isn't on X Games is because paintball is a lot like baseball - in my opinion, it's a lot funner to play than to watch. People's attention span are short, which is why skating & BMX is easier to watch because there's a lot of action in a short period of time.

I skated for 6 years, went to many demo's and competitions. A skaters run on a vert ramp is about 60 seconds. Sometimes more and sometimes less. During that short period of time, your able to focus on one person doing some amazing tricks. With viewing paintball, there's too much going on at once. Not easy to keep up with for most people.

Another example is motocross. Dirtbike tricks are gaining more popularity than watching a motocross. Why? Because watching a single person doing a 100 ft long jump with only one hand on his handlebars is easier to view, and more exciting in some respects than watching 30 dirbike riders go around a track for 5 minutes.

This is just my logic.

They could show 1 on 1 paintball.

That would be cool except dont just send those automated messages that you dont even know what the say. They probably dont read them cause of the same title. WE have to send a good personel letter and explain about how many people want it on TV and so on.

I heard it was going to be but in the x games in the next 5 years! I think they need better ways to catch all the action mabey if it was like 3 on 3 games that would be cool!

Paintball is definitely a hard game to shoot (photographically). Unlike Football, where you wait for the ball to be hiked, follow the Quarterback, follow the pass, the handoff or whatever ... sports like football and baseball are almost predictable in what, when and where the action takes place. But paintball is totally unpredictable. everyone crouches and fires like mad, then outta the blue, someone runs ... It's hard to predict what will happen, so it's hard to decided what part of the field or what player to focus on.

Head cams would do good! and bunker cams and other good cameras would make the game more attractive to the average american couch slug

whoo, 20 posts. Now my thread will have the little flame deelys. Ok, i just got back from playing today and this ******* on my team who we didn't want to be out there in the first place somehow found out about it and came out there to play. So anyway he gets shot early and decides to be a ******* and put his mask on and puts his gun in his hand and starts wandering around the field stupidly. A guy on the other team mistakes him for a player that is still in and shoots him in the shoulder. The idiot, that is what we will call this guy who wanders stupidly, starts yelling I'm OUT I'M OUT WHY'D YOU SHOOT ME? then he raises his gun and shoots this guy six times at five feet away because he got mad at him. So to make a long story short the oldest guy out there, our shop owner gets mad at him and tells him that he can never play with us again whenever he is around. So they are all mad and leave and then the idiot tries to plead his case to us and I just said, shutup. I'm never playing with that guy again because next time I don't want it to be me that he shoots six times at five feet. I can't stand that fatass I don't even know why he started playing with us in the first place, i think I'm going to roll his house

this maybe lame but i'll give it a try

Or maybe build domes for pball and put cameras on the top in bunkers ect. but thats my opinion

Paintball is too varied by guns and equipment. its that simple

Yes, it is difficult for a single camera to cover even a 3on3 speedball game. Unless, the shooter is also a paintball player.

Check these out:

Now, my photo gear costs more than an Angel but it would be easy to equip and have a photo team shoot a speedball game for tv.

if u thought that warpig videos were cool. imagine what espn can do with their cameras. They could have slow motion bunkering and back players with goggle cams yelling codes and stuff. or have a slow motion replay of a single ball hitting someone in the testis.
