Well it seems that we are just filling this forum with polls I was wondering what would be the best length for someone who is usually a sniper. I have a Spyder (Not the best sniper weapon but hey it works)
Does longer = more accurate?

Any extra info on this area of paintball would be appreciated..

longer does not me akways mean more accurate. once a barrel gets a certian length (depends on the marker) the ball starts to slow doun in the barrel becuse the gas pressure has explanded to it full potencal. for example: if each shot used an ounce of gas. (it doesn't mater if it does or doesn't, and if its co2 or n2) and a 18" barrel holds 1.5 ounces of gas then one it hit the 1oz mark then the gas does not have enough power to keep pushing the ball. so the as the ball travels thought the rest of the barrel the friction of the ball and barrel starts to slow the ball down.

the trick is to find out what the you markers potencal is. then you have to try different lengths and materials out. it also mattersif you are using n2 or co2.

if you want to be a really good sniper there is more than just the barrel length

How is longer better? More accurate? See I am trying to decide among a 12 14 and 16 inch barrel. I figure if nothing else I will get the middle one (14) So if I want something that I can take long range kills with should I get a 16?

14 inches is an all around good size nice for short distances and nice for those long shots. And best of all it dosn't slow the ball down like a 16 inch or larger dose. Lets say 14 is the bigges I would ever go it's the perfect size

I gotta say 14(fourteen) inches in this case. It has to be the best cross between range and accuracy. Though a 16(sixteen) inch barrel is a bit more accurate, it also tends to bog the ball down. Which takes away from your effective range. I have a 14 (fourteen) inch Tippmann Sniper Barrel on my 98 Custom, and so far, I have been very pleased.

I think that 14 inches is the best size

EvilAngel2001, where do you find the Tippman Sniper Barrel?

If you want to be a sniper, you need a 36 inch barrel ... plus a 6.5X Optically correct scope ... and a Ghillie suit, and a 98 Cubic Inch Compressed Air Tank ... But wait, that's not all ...

(yes, I'm being sarcastic)

umm just strap the whole skuba tank on you back and get a 42inch barrel with a bipod. a day later you would look like the hulk carring all that weight. o and dont port the barrel or the ball will never come out. also if you find a valve that will put out that much air that would also be nice to produce and market for all the newbys.(to make it hurt more)

(WHAT I THINK)

barrels from 10-100 inches have the same range because they are chronoed at the same speed. longer barrels are usuially really quiet. if you play woods get a 14 with good porting or a 16incher. TJ and Much have a good idea on what you might need.
