Heres the story, my parents said i could play paintball last weekend so i did, i love it, i am hooked i have this urge going through my body telling me that i should play this sport.

I played paintball, now i want to buy my own paintball marker, this is where my parents say they dont want me to buy one, this means to them that im going to be playing this game alot, to be buying a marker that is.

They are also worried about the kind of people who play this game, they were saying like skin heads and obbsessed people who might hurt me if they get mad and start becomeing dangerous.

They are worried about what kind of impression this is to me im 15 yrs old. ( My family is againsts owning guns in the household by the way).

NOW THIS IS WHERE YOU GUYS COME IN!! HELP ME TO FIND SOMTHING TO COUNTER THIS ARGUMENT!!! HELP ME FIND GOOD PROOF THAT I SHOULD BE PLAYING THIS GAME!! PLEASE TO ALL MY FELLOW PAINTBALLERS I BEG U ALL!!!!!!

well, you could start by telling them how safe it is, here is a link to some stats and articles regarding safety. http://www.paintballsafety.com/stats.html
Another thing would be to take them to the field where you play to meet the ppl you are playing with (only if it helps your cause:))

that's all i can think of off the top of my head at this hour. best of luck

goto http://www.pigtv.net and look at the vids there, they show the game as a sport. not with peeps in camo and traping through the woods, its a better image.

BTW i dont have anything against camo, just makes parents scared, they get the impression of war which leads to the impression of death and injury.

Educate them.
But also respect them. They are only concerned for your safety.

buy your mommy a flower

but, yeah i was in the same position, my dad is a moron. so i told him that paintball is fun and my friends play too so he said OK :D

BTW get some of your friends to play, this will put your parents more at ease becasue then they know that you will be safe with your friends and stuff.

also take them to the field to watch some games and meet the skinheads obbsessed people who might hurt you if they get mad and start becomeing dangerous ;)

I didn't tell my parents when i bought my marker with my own hard earned money, and I sneak out with the car when they're at work, golfing, or elsewear... THat's how i've been going for the last little while.

go to a store and get a highlight video or something. if you know anyone with a stingray that came as a set, it comes with some crappy video about the sport. it's only 20 minutes long but it shows how it's played, rules, and safety. the video in itself was made for parents to view, if you ever see it, you'll know what i mean.

just explaining it to them won't sell them but an actual video is alot harder to argue with. who knows maybe you'll get your pops to come and play on day.

i got that brass eagle video if you want it email me and i'll let you know.

Hey, my mom is the most anti-gun person in the world. It's simple, if she is dead set against there being a gun in her (yes, it is always the mothers house) house, than there is nothing that you can really do. What I did is not to try to convice my mom that paintball is socially acceptable, but I convinced her that the mindset of the game is better than many other things. I told her that I was a responsible teenager, I had good grades and I had never been arrested. I also told her that paintball is expensive, and in order for me to support my new found hobby I would have to get a job (that did wonders in itself) to pay for my sport. I also told her that paintball would be my sport, and that I would never ask here to help me out with it financially or otherwise. The biggest thing that I did though was to remain calm and keep my head. I played whenever I could, making sure I kept the camo's, bruises and war stories out of the house. It took a while, but once she saw the friends I was making, how hard I was working at my job and how my grades were staying up, she relaxed.

Hey i'm a skinhead that likes hurting fifteen year olds!!!

Just kidding i'm actually 14 and my mom want thrilled either but just tell her that it will get you at of the house more. Also tell her it doesnt hurt when you get shot and stuff lke that. Finally tell her that you'll pay for part of it, i didnt have to do this because my partents folded in after i said "It'll get me out of the house more" :)

I say show them how safe it is. U are REQUIRED to wear a mask at ALL times on the field, you chrono your gun, u use a barrel plug etc. Also, you are supervised by refs all the time so no one is going to light you up randomly and try to hurt you. Second, this is a marker not a firearm. Paintball guns were first used to mark cows! Third, a paintball gun is a responsibility, you maintain it and use it well. Paintball can get expensive so you have to point out that YOU EARN money to pay for it so you can keep playing. I would also suggest you take them to the feild and maybe they will even play. Who knows??

Go out and buy some paintball mags, Action Pursuit Games, Paintball the Mag, and some others. Show them to her. These mags will show that it is a sport, not a bunch of skinheads or GI Joe wannabees. Also, If your mom will let you play but won't allow a gun in the house, if you get one and see if you can leave it at your local field along with your gear, also you could try having one of your friends keep the stuff, that is if you have someone you can trust.

I would say that the best bet on winning over mom is to be calm and don't get mad or yell and scream. Lay down the things you need to say. If she still dosn't like it then I would suggest you need to drop the idea of talking with her and start looking toward your dad, if he say you can play and own a marker then use that.

Good luck

Just say "Mom, I am not crazy, you raised me well, I will not start killing people and turn into a murdered by playing army with paint shooting MARKERS." Key word there, MARKER, don't call it a gun call it a marker.

She even bought a 'marker' for my birthday in june. (the 8th) OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY. 8 MORE DAYS YAHOO! I'm having a paintball party and your all invited if you want. but after i got my gun and my dad saw me runnin around and havin that much fun he got one for him and my brother too. hehe . . . now its a great way for me my bro and to be close and bond. we go out and play and have more fun thean we have ever had together. my mom still doesnt like it very much but the thing that helped her come around the most was her seeing how much i loved it and that it kept me away from trouble because i am spending my money to go paintballing instead of buying drugs. the best thing i think u could do is get an issue of APG and show here what the sport is really like not just rednecks shootin eachother. the pigtv is a good idea too . . . if u like paintball u should have warpig.com bookmarked anyway that site rules!

actually, they were first used by forrest rangers to mark trees to create paths in the woods. then moved into the cattle industry using an oil based paint, i believe it was called the DSDS or something like that. just a tid bit of paintball history.

God, how new are you to paintball? The DSDS 494 Slider just came out barely 2 years ago. The orgianl paintball gun that was used by forest rangers was the Nel-Spot 007. It was also marketed as a Cattle Marking Pistol.
