it depends on the velocity of the paintball gun

i wanna know the answer!
let say around 280 fps how far will it go?
adn how bout max velocity?

How far from the ground is the barrel, and what angle?

GOOD GOD! I didnt know you guys could turn a sipm;e ans to a hard one! ok shooting straight o head max fps and 280 no angles just straght.

What height is the barrel?

wind conditions?

rain?

snow?

day of the week?

tide?

sunny?

overcast?

  :D

I'm just thinking theoretically. If you would like to really get into it, what's the air pressure outside, wind speed and direction, weight of the ball, are we assuming a flat ground or are you on a hill...

Well, obviously everyone is going to ask velocity, conditions, angles, etc. because it can vary. Be specific. Are you saying shooting at 280 fps straight with... hmm a 12 inch barrel. That would probably go, well, I'm not sure, someone else help me.

how are local celestial bodies aligned?

does the shell or fill of the ball contain iron? the magnetic field could affect it.

Solar Flairs?

Humidity?

Woods?

Shade, Direct sunlight?

night, day?

is the ball spining or not?

Is the barrel perfectly still?

Is there any Communication satilights beaming radio signals on the ball?

Whats the true shape of the ball?

Is there a commet in the sky?

Planes Near buy?

any sound vibrations?

Just look what you started...

Too much stuff to take into account...

I can't believe I missed the obvious one... Is this here on Earth? If so what longitude and latitude? (It's not a perfect sphere you know) Also, where is the moon in relation. The rest of the planets and the sun shouldn't have too much effect, and can probably be rounded off. If you aren't on the Earth though, where are you? If you are on a planet, what is the orientation and mass of the natural satellites? If you are on a moon, what is the orientation and mass of any other natural satellites and the planet which they orbit?

effective range of 70 feet, maximum range of 120 feet (if angled) but with flatline effective range of around 200 feet, maximum range of 250 feet (if angled)

Yo forgot to ask how much does the governing body (sun) pull on the planet, whats the atmospere consist of, if there were any mircosopic particles present in its flight path, and the consistancy, PH level and reactivity of the gas propelling the ball and of the air it will enter into.

halB

digital, thats just dumb, its obvious that the heat of the governing body which would cause the paint to swell and the damage cause to the shell during flight due to uv exposure would cause a much more drastic affect on the range of a ball than the gravity of the governing body. DUH

That would depend on how effective the atmosphere is at blocking UV the heat issue I havn't a clue what to do about that besides move to Canada or use Bigball ya bout can't get those to swell... :D

Im guessing about 50 yards shot straight out at about 6 feet height(my height). And when angled at 45 degrees it goes about 100 yards maybe. But Im kinda guessing, although I tested this outside my house.

The real question is how far up can you shoot it. I suggest trying it. Point your marker straight up for maximum vertical distance, and fire. Note, this is much easier to do with a closed bolt.

I am 5'9", shooting my Emag from chest level at 285fps, with the maximum distance checked by laser ranging;

(All tests were done with 20 balls if each brand)

Fresh Marbelizers went 122 yards.

Fresh Hellfire went 120yds.

Fresh Kick'n went 125yds. (best consistancy of all brands)

Old BE crap went 83yds whenever it went straight.

JT Maxim went 130yds. (best paint to barrel fit of all brands)

Out of 100 balls, 22 splattered on impact, 38 broke with no spray, and the rest bounced with no breakage at all. Impact was on graded dirt.

Ambient temp. was 82F, nearly no wind, slightly cloudy, with humidity in the high twentys.

This test was done in conjunction with the field testing of Level 10.

damn u, u took away our fun of stupid scientific jargon crap. but the real question is, do you have the z body?

depends on the paint and barrel, the heavier the paint the further it will go (i.e. jt maxim) and a good gun like a cocker they shoot far and with a good barrel like a boomstick ;)

um... a cocker wont shoot a ball farther. Look in the barrel/paint forum and look at the sticky. According to the laws of physics, they will all go the same unless the marker does something to it. If you have several makers, all angled exactly the same, same barrels, same paint (nothing is wrong with any of them) they will all go to the exact same place unless some outside force interfers.

If it's a Talon, it'll go about .68 inches....that's the drop from the feed to the body of the gun. Then you'll pull the trigger and nothign will happen.

Shockers don't get more range, they get less :)

VeNoM
07-25-2002, 12:49 PM
not really, he said himself it was probably a measurement error, and the shocker velocity was slightly lower, but oh well . . .
