i don't know how to silence this thing. It sucks for sneaking up on people cause when you fire the bolt system hits the barrel and it makes a loud ting.

I have some really bad news...that's not the barrel it's hitting. That's the steel....yes, STEEL....ball detent. Brass Eagle's detent design SUCKED. Why? Because when the bolt *ding*s against the detent, it creates an edge on the bolt after time...and you'll start chopping paint in half with the now sharpened bolt. Don't worry, the ball detent is replacable with any acrylic/plastic hobby bead the same size. But to silence it? it's a Stingray II for godsakes, they might as well have painted it neon orange and given it a fog horn. No matter what you do, it ain't gonna sound like a Shocker. Open bolt blowbacks all sound like anti-aircraft cannons with surround sound.

And even then it's pretty loud.
You gotta put the tank on a bottomline, fill up the grip, replace the detent, get a ported barrel, put molefoam (stuff you put on the corns and blisters on your feet.) on the front face of the hammer, and on the back face of the sear, and lower the pressure, unfortunately, lowering pressure is not easy to do. The valve was designed to run at 700-850 psi, which means it takes some severe modification (increasing flow and crap.) to get it to lower pressure, and I think the lowest you can possibly get it is in the four-five hundreds.
The price you would pay for the above modifications, you could buy a gun that's quieter and faster bone stock. There are too many like that to list, unfortunately. The stingray II's best role is covering fire, since it scares the crap out of anybody nearby, and puts their heads down fast. That's how loud it is. I've never seen a quiet stingray that recocked. And that's the honest truth, the Stingray is outdated technology, best suited to tricking out for fun, and cosmetic modifications for use in scenario games.

My Stingray often gets comments about how quiet it is. I have a vertical tank mount, filled grip, Eagleworks barrel, and a Venturi bolt, velocity screw hole enlargemnt (to back it out farther) and it chrono's in the 270's.

He doesnt mean build a silencer, he means quiet the thing down, because the Stingray is louder than a Colt m1911A1, and for a paintball gun, that's pretty piss poor.
