What should i know about RATs specifically be for I jump in and buy one? This will be my first marker. How critical is Vision, can I live without it? How bad is the first shoot drop with RATs?

my first shot goes anywhere from 30 feet to 100 feet when i first gas the gun up....just depends on how long it sits.....i don't get it during the day tho....it hasn't been bad enough where i can tell i have it between games and such....

that is what I was hope people were refering to.
and who cares about that, my first shot on a fresh tank is always at a chrono or at a tree. I was worried tath everytime I went 5 minutes without shooting I would be watching my first shot role out of the barrel.

how does the size of the marker work for players who play middle and front?

I think the marker works great any where on the field.

I'd recommend against an Impulse for your first gun.
Get a Piranha or a model 98, make sure you're gonna stick around the game long enough to warrent a more expensive marker.

I just got a RAT two weeks ago and I love it. Its a good all around gun for anywhere on the field. I do recommend getting the vision theres nothin worse than choppin paint
in the middle of a game. If this is yer first marker just be careful and make sure TO READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS
or and i also recommend gettin teh adjustable LPR on it, it makes a world of diffrence

I have to agree with Legend on this...
Based on the info you've given us regarding your playing expierence, I'd so go get a lowerend gun. (if you INSIST on an electro, get a PMI E-Force) and make sure you want to stay in the game.....
Don't be one of these little kids that goes and buys an expensive gun the first thing and gets torn up on the field and pouts (I see plenty of it at my field)

i think instead of getting the piranha he should get a bko just incase he gets a rat in the future he'll have a general idea of how a true electro works and not b so used to blowbacks that true electros' just scare him(my impy still scares me :paranoid:

Accually I have been playing for a year or so...
... and I am 21 so I don't think anyone will be calling me the little kid....
and

see I was orginally going for the blowback, but I think these guys make a little more sense, and even if I was to lose interest in the sport, look at the resale value of a piranha vs a RAT.
I am really between a custom cocker and an impy. the impy is winning right now cause I want to spend more time playing than fix and cleaning my gun. I know you have to clean any gun but you get my drift.

I bought a Black Magic then sold it for my IMPY and never looked back.

Impulses (and other stacked tube electro pnuematic guns) opperate almost identically to a spyder/pianha/etc. The only diff is the imp/electro has air holding the hammer back, rather than a sear/spring in the Piranha.

true but in an over simplified manner of speaking. The difference between a solenoid gun and a sear gun, as in the quailty, are night and day.

Don't hate the rich newbie treat him well then he will let u use his gun ;)
but seriously alot of ppl dont like it when the new guy has the nicer gun, i know i used to be an angel hater when all i had was a ACI F4. If someones got the money to spend on a nice gun then do it that way he hasnt got to spend 400 dollars on guns he dont want. Thats a waste of money and sure is much easier to sell a nice electro then to sell a m98 or a spyder so that way if he decideds to get out of paintball it wiould be easier to sell his gun. SO stop being jealous. I saw BUY YER RAT
its a good gun

Obviously you don't know my gun history. I have absolutely nothing to be jealous about. Just because I'm trying to save him from possibly losing a large sum of money makes me jealous? That's some messed up logic...
