I'm buying a 98 custom from xpaintball and was wondering what size tank to get. I'll be also using it as a substitute stock so I wanted to know how long is a good length for that.
9oz/16oz = 10"
7oz = 11"
12oz/20oz = 12"
I know I don't want the 7oz because it just can't hold enough CO2. I was thinking of gettin a 9oz, 12oz, or 16oz. I have fairly long arms but was wondering if 12" might be too long for me. The 9oz and the 16oz are the same length, so if you could give me your opinions on which you prefer that would be nice. Where I'll be playing mostly is a field that gives $10 all day air, so refills shouldn't be a problem.
I do not live near a paintball store, so it's kinda hard to try out the tanks in person. Sorry to make such a big deal out of something so trivial. =P

Get a 16oz stub tank, then you won't really need as long a d/f.

I use Co2 tanks. I got a 9 ounce, 12 ounce, 20 ounce, and a 24 ounce. When i use any one of them, before the ball is about to hit the person or target w/e i am shooting it bends down. This makes it really hard for me to line up my red dot sight. I have a tippmann 98 custom and some one said to get a 32 degrees 14" barrel and use compressed air. Whats is compressed air, and will changing the barrel and air help it from not bending down?

Compressed air is the air you breathe, compressed to extremely high pressures. It's cleaner and doesn't freeze up or liquify like co2, and comes with a regulator on the tank to give much better shot to shot consistency. As for changing the barrel, that might help if you get a better paint to bore match going, although I'm guessing you play outside and use multiple different paints, which means one barrel won't necessarily always work. Try lowering your fps if you are shooting 300 or more, and just track the paintball with your eye, not the dumb red dot sight. Sights are some of the most ineffective gimmicks in paintball, since the paint will never be that accurate. Learn to track it with your eye, and you can be a lot more accurate.
To the original poster, get atleast a 16oz tank. Don't worrk about it being too long, you can tuck it under your arm if you need to, but its better to be just a tad uncomfortable than to run out of air and not have it matter at all.
