I was just thinking bout maybe gettin an impulse. I've heard a lot about RAT Impulses. Are they made to last and how do they perform. Is it better than a cocker( just a stock with maybe a few upgrades) Thanks.

i say its not possible to compare impulses to cockers, they each ARE DIFFERENT and its really a matter of preference :agree: - its like apples to oranges, u know, preference, some like one, some like the other, some like both, some like neither :eyes:
but a few things that ARE FACTS
autocockers - (not electro) with aka internals (can be kinda expensive)
- decent low pressure (180-300 psi) pretty quiet (also depends on barrel, VERY HIGH GAS EFFICIENCY
impulses - (electro) STOCK, low pressure, (i think between 140 and 240, CANT GO ABOVE 240 psi)
- a very low pressure gun stock, very quiet, never heard it win gas efficiency contests though
:atten: id also like to note below in my sig, i want to sell my cocker, and im looking for a impy :freak:

I have enjoyed my RAT no real problems with it. If you are going to get an IMPY I would recommend it.

Akalmp cockers can get in excess of a case per fill.
And my opinion on rats? I think they're made by one of the most shady business's in paintball. But thats just what I think. You guys can...well...think whatever you want.

IT should be noted that Tom has a PERSONAL axe to grind- we tried to merge our teams to play 10 man- and it simply did not work out.

Last time I checked selling team paint to customers off the street isn't a "personal" deal, eh?
I could care less the teams split up, I was happy to take the walk. What pissed me off are the reasons WHY we took the walk.

PMs are there for a reason guys.. I know I'm not an admin or moderator but try not to get off topic :)
Back to the topic.. It depends how you like to play and what you want from a gun I guess.. Impulses are alot faster than cockers but are also alot taller, probobly the tallest guns. If you play front I would probobly recommend an impy.. I don't see many front players using cockers but I dont see many back players using impulses either.. its personal preference I guess.. shoot both guns and see which you prefer.

oh, and legend, my gun gets more than a case per fill from a 20oz. which is excellent. im shooting a consistent 285 fps and havent had to re-chrony and re-adjust my gun's settings in over 3 months.

That's a 20 oz. I've seen many revenges do that from a 68/45 fill. Theres less air in a 68/45 then there is in a 20 oz.
And yes, once you get everything dialed in you shouldnt have to mess with your gun. Glad yours is set up that way.

"Last time I checked selling team paint to customers off the street isn't a "personal" deal, eh?"
and last I checked not paying for turny paint was called "stealing"- so if you want to have a disscussion on this- maybe you should give your home address and SSN and we can have the argument in front of a Judge.

Give it to him... gee I shouldnt have said that, but sometimes when I read this forum (but rarely post) The Legend seems to be like the person who always slams Rats cause of a seemingly personal indiffrence (correct me if im wrong plz) with fom, or I belive his real name is craig... whatever.
I love epbo and thier rat I love a lot about them, what cant you love about a small business making a hit... I need to shut up now before I start scaring fom with me "love" ;)
Anyway I would like to say I bought a HALO B :D :D

the legend should just stay out of EPBOs business, and this forum too, lol if he wants to avoid a 'confrontation' with the boys over at epbo.
but yes legend, there is nothing wrong with my impulse. never had a single problem.

That's odd. Seeing how I distinctly remember handing walt a $50 bill at that colors tourney. If others didnt pay it isnt my fault, I paid my money, dont try to say I didnt.
And also dont try to say that you guys used 26 cases at ONE practice. The only reason paint was so expensive at the colors tourney is because all the team was was "used" at practice, and we had to shoot marb. I'm sorry, but practices dont need 26 cases, and I find it impossible they shot that much. It was the only practice of the month, and all the paint was gone. I heard from inside sources (IE people on your team to this day, well, it isnt "your" team anymore, is it?) that they didnt shoot anywhere near 26 cases at that practice. I wasnt there however, but things just dont add up.
TicTacs- If you havent figured it out by now, I like arguing. I do it sometimes just for the sake of doing it. Nowhere did I say I was trying to "not get in confrontations with epbo." You act like I'm afraid of them or something.

the fact is by trying to get back at EPBO for screwing you, you are screwing the visitors of this website out of the proper information that they desevre.
RATs are quality markers, have never shot one myself so take this how you want, but I have done extensive research on them as the are one of two markers I am deciding between, the other bieing a Timmy. Anyhow definitly some high quality product, the only reason I am not holding my very own right now is that I am a little concerned over the size they seem a little tall in the pics. I am going to try to get one of my filthy palms on one tomorrow.

First you say that I'm screwing the visitors out of "proper" information, then you make a statement about the quality a gun you've never even seen in person. Is that "proper" information?

Yeah the only reason I said that is cause Legend is such a wealth of knowledge in this forum, if it was some Jack*** that didn't know anything I woudl have jsut dismissed his compents.

You have no clue how much I have read up on this gun, if its written about it and on the web I have read it. Which I think is almost more important than holding it. You could take a few rips off someguys gun at the field run home order it and find out after 5000 rounds it disinigrates. If I didn't think I was educated enough on the matter I wouldn't have posted.
Anyhow back to the topic please.

It's important to know what your talking about...but having shot one you defintely better understand what people are talking about.
I got my RAT knowing the problems, knowing how to fix the problems (I have a notepad file about 5 pages long of impulse info I have copied from this forum that JR, Leg, and FOM have posted).
I knew what I was getting and I am not disappointed in how the gun performs. It shoots good....the damn 90 degree swivel head attached to my maxflo is leaking now...but the gun itself is fine(stupid pullpin and gauge). If you like the RAT, your not giving up a huge ammount of performance (if any, I don't see any, legend will say otherwise) you'll be happy. I have FSDS...but it's nothing....one shot...everything is fine...and the first shot is like 220FPS...so it clears the barrel. Other then FSDO I'm not aware of any big problems on the imp. (solenoid, maxflo problems)
It shoots fast....and straight. I need to get better myself so I can take full advantage of the speed and accuracy of my RAT.
Any problems people will give you to convince you not to buy an impulse are not big deals. Know your gun, take care of it. It will treat you right just like any other gun. Like I said to my dad when my RAT came in the mail "if it shoots half as good as it looks ill be happy" and yes it shoots just as good as it looks....im happy...i have shot angels and GZ's....i see no major diff.....

You missed my point.
I don't care how much anybody has READ about ANY gun, until you have used said gun in a game situation many times no one has any right to say how the gun performs. I try to shoot at least 7 cases through my guns before I make a final judgement on them, and try to use equipment (accessories, clothing, etc) at least 3 times before I say weather I like it or not.
What you read online has nothing to do with what goes on in real life, until you have cold hard experiance with a product, don't pass judgment on it.

Well I don't know anyone who has the opertunity to shoot 7 cases though a marker before purchasing "said" marker, so what do we rely on...
...wonderful sites like this and the many other wonderful communties out there. That allow us to talk to people who have got a chance to shoot 7 , 10 , maybe 100 cases though "said" marker.
With that being said, I had the opertunity to put a hopper full though a impulse with a vert max flow, at an army navy store near my parents while I was visiting this weekend. Although it wasn't accually a RAT, it did quell my uncertainties about the vertical size, which were my only concerns.
it was a very fortunate thing as well. I came in and was looking around, apartently they had just started selling pb gear cause they didn't have much stocked yet. I did get to try on the Dye gogs which are nice. So I was standing there flipping though a back issue of p8nt and this guy came in to pick up his marker after getting some work done (something with an aftermarket frame, to hyped at the time to really pay attention.). Anyhow the dude was nice enough to let me rip off a hopper behind the store. It was soo quick, adn felt really comfortable to hold. We turned a old rusted trash can into a old rusted pink trash can in no time. the picks are rather decieving on the web it looks like two inches taller the most markers but it is really not that severe at all. Anyhow I am sold on the RAT now.

i compared my impy setup to my friends bushy setup and my impy was acualy just a tad bit shorter than his..i expected it to be taller but it acualy wasnt. the body is shorter the trigger frame is shorter the feed tube is taller. I compared it to my friends angel setup and my setup was about half a inch taller than his. look at my setup in my sig if u are wondering what kind of setup i have.

How are they going to perform as good as they look?
Theres nothing really special about them that is different from a rat or nasty, except for that thing they call a "fancy tapeworm". It'll be just as good as a RAT or Nasty......Hooray!

and rats and nastys perform well too but i think this is going to perform just a little bit better but maybe that is just me.
