View Full Version : Stupid Velocity...

OK, so last time I went paintballing I had on my WGP reg and nothing else (this is for my spyder). After that day I was able to pick up a palmer stabilizer. I also sanded down my valve pin and drilled out my VA to make them both higher flowing. I even replaced my main spring with a stiffer one. But when I went up to the chrono to get set, I had to crank the reg up to 600 psi and turn the velocity in all the way just to get up to 285. I can't figure it out. Anyone know why? (also, I lost my striker o-ring sometime during the day, but I doubt it was at the beginning)

i don't know but with my stock spyder tl plus i can't get the velocity above 260 even with a full tank of co2

600 psi is much lower than the stock operationg pressure do u have a new valve and bolt? why not jsut turn up the pressure? i run my shutter at like 750psi

I didn't turn up the pressure because at first, I had it at 400 psi and it was shooting WAY low. I turned the reg up above 600, and it only increased by like 20 fps, so I ended up just tightening my velocity adjuster. I think I might have botched the valve pin sand job, so I'll pick up a cheap turbo valve with a valve pin and see what's up. Maybe that will help.

Yeah sanding valve pins can screw you up, especially if you shortened the length in even the slightest little bit.

Well, there's my answer then. A 20 buck turbo valve should fix that, along with giving me the flow I should have.

Did you try getting a new spring? It might help. It helped with my friends piranha.

Ah. Then for anyone still wondering, this is what it looks like he did. When you shorten the length of your valve pin, it will not get pushed in as far. When you do this, the valve will no longer be able to open anywhere near as much, and you will have to turn your pressure WAY up to compensate for the severly restricted flow

Hmm, come to think of it, I would get a new spring, if I could find one cheap. I think I could get one with the MaddMan Spring Kit... is there any other way I could get one?
